SUMMARY

The VOD Pipeline team is responsible for building and operating a large-scale, highly available, low latency distributed system to power Video-On-Demand (VOD) business for Hulu. This team is seeking a senior software developer who is a video technology pioneer, a programmer with rich backend and workflow development experience, a proactive problem solver, and always be intellectually curious and innovative. WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Design advanced data model and architecture to support Hulu’s fast growing VOD business as well as all kinds of new AV features
• Design, build and maintain highly available large-scale backend services to serve playback metadata as well as video / audio content to end users
• Bring ground breaking video industry technologies to team and develop advanced video features into Hulu’s system.
• Improve VOD pipeline’s performance, scalability and stability.
• Develop and maintain automatic test environment, test tools, take care of software quality while developing features.

WHAT TO BRING

• BS or MS in Computer Science/Engineering or related majors
• 3+ years of software development experience using Python, Go, Java or C / C++
• Strong software development skills and experience in backend service development
• Experience of video streaming / playback implementation / MPEG-DASH / DRM / QoS improvement preferred
• Proven cross-culture communication and collaboration skills, have strong teamwork ethic
• Passionate about building video technologies and continuously improving user experience

NICE-TO-HAVES

• Experience on building online video transcoding / streaming systems
• Deep knowledge and experience on video coding standard and technologies
• Experience and knowledge on database schema design as well as performance optimization
