We are seeking passionate and ambitious software engineers for the role of Software Development Engineer in Test to expand our award-winning development team. Successful candidates will be responsible for qualifying innovative product within Harmonic’s comprehensive portfolio of video and media products and Cloud-based services.

The position involve software test planning of next-generation flagship products, services and systems for Harmonic. Partnering and collaborating with R&D teams across R&D offices to qualify releases quickly throughout product development cycles.

Successful candidates for this position will be exposed to and learn about internet video, mobile live streaming and digital video content preparation and delivery to TVs, PC, iDevices and all other video-enabled devices within the context of cutting-edge technologies and techniques.

Job Duties: 

• Develop and execute software test plans
• Write test scripts and test tools and/or procedures for TV broadcast head-end systems, distributed network management system and all devices it controls
• Automate existing and new test cases
• Analyze and write test standards and procedures
• Analyze test results to ensure existing functionality and recommend corrective actions to maintain quality standards for Harmonic products
• Consult with development engineers, peer QA teams, customer support and marketing team in resolution of problems.

Skills & Qualifications: 

• Bachelor degree or above in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering or related technical field
• Knowledge in Python and Software Testing
• Relevant experience in Software Engineering, QA or Test (manual and automated) will be a plus
• Knowledge and/or experience in the following will be a plus:
  • Embedded device testing;
  • Networking (Ethernet Switching, IP Network);
  • Broadcast video systems (MPEG transports, Cable, satellite, IPTV); or
  • Mobile video systems (encoding and distribution of video in OTT systems)
• A strong desire and ability to learn and process highly complex systems particularly in end-to-end solution for video/TV processing and delivery.
• A fast learner as the role will require reading standards and engineering design documents, understanding customer use-cases, deriving the test plans from them, and writing the applicable test tools and automation scripts.

Successful candidates will have the opportunity to learn & gain real-world experience in:

• Automated and manual test development including test script and planning
• Distributed systems, network management, feature rich devices, video, audio & data services, MPEG, DVB, TCP/IP, broadcast and mobile streaming, and related standards and specifications.

Candidates with more experience may be considered for a senior role.
