We are seeking a Senior Associate Software Development Engineer to fill a position in Amgen's Research Informatics Organization.

The Research Informatics team supports discovery research and translational sciences globally with innovative IS and Data Science solutions to accelerate and grow Amgen’s pipeline of biopharmaceuticals. Our success in informatics is driven by our dedication to the IS Vision –

The primary responsibilities of this role are:

• Develop and deliver high-quality, scalable, and robust software products & components in collaboration with product management, stakeholders & engineering teams

• Lead technical workstreams to develop software components

• Collaborate with the team members to create end to end Informatics solutions

• Collaborate with the team members to ensure all services are reliable, maintainable, and well-integrated into existing platforms

• Collaborate with the team to evaluate and utilize cutting-edge technologies in the industry to meet scientific business needs

• Ensure effective communication between scientific area management, technical staff, and vendors to analyze scientific needs and implement informatics solutions in data acquisition, integration, and analysis

• Ensure effective design, development, and management of software products to align with security & quality standards of Amgen
   

Basic Qualifications

Master's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

OR

Bachelor's degree and 2 years of Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, experience

OR

Associate's degree and 6 years of Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, experience

OR

High school diploma/GED and 8 years of Information Systems experience
 

Preferred Qualifications

• Skilled in software design and proficiency in one or more software development languages

• Knowledge of software engineering practices across full software development life cycle (SDLC), including rapid prototyping, agile methodology, DevOps frameworks, and cloud architecture

• Knowledge of container (e.g., Docker) and microservices frameworks

• Working knowledge of RDMS, such as Oracle; advanced experience writing SQL queries and developing functions/packages with PL/SQL.

• Knowledge of analytics and visualization technologies (Spotfire, Tableau, Python – NumPy, SciPy, Pandas)

• Experience in developing and supporting web applications including familiarity with web technologies and frameworks (Angular, EXTJS, D3, React.js)

• Ability to communicate technical ideas in common terms to business & technology partners

• Self-motivated individual with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in teams

• High learning agility, innovation, and analytical skills.
