The Application Platform Data & Intelligence team on Windows is looking for a passionate Software Engineer that can help us engineer a high quality app platform and derive deep technical plus business insights on its health and usage.

Our team owns the platform pieces that power mainstream Windows 10 consumer experiences such as Store acquisition and updates of Universal Apps, AAA Games and Desktop Bridge apps, including Office in the Windows Store. We also own specialized scenarios such as Enterprise App Management and Manageability, OEM App provisioning, App migration across OS Upgrade etc. We ensure that our universal store developers have world class platform and tools to complement their Visual Studio app development experience.  We use platform telemetry, Windows Store App Analytics and various data sources for driving product quality and design through data.

Responsibilities

- Defining and measuring our success metrics

- Working with teams across Microsoft to improve components and tools

- Improving the fundamentals of the platform

- Creating new tools and prototypes to help data gathering

- Providing our teams with insights based on data

Qualifications

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or other technical/engineering degree
• Demonstrated experience designing, coding and debugging performance-critical code

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with data engineering technologies and applied data science methodologies (some or all of descriptive, exploratory, inferential, predictive, or casual analysis)
• Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting skills
• Good communication skills both verbal and written

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
