Eaton’s Energy Automation Solutions business is currently seeking a Software Engineer (Applications) to join our team. This position will be located at our Montreal offices or remote from within the surrounding St. Bruno, South Shore, or Montreal areas. Position Overview: Are you a software engineer who can develop next generation technology solutions to enable the smart grid to become smarter? As a software engineer at Eaton, you will be a member of a dynamic, experienced team who can help design, implement, and test smart algorithms and controls for our exciting digital devices. The Software Engineer position will be part of a team implementing a brand-new ground up product. This position will receive mentorship from Senior and Lead Engineers as they learn the process from design to implementation of product features. In this function you will: Design: Create extensible and reusable APIs for control algorithms and connected devices via Linux applications. Deliver: Implement software solutions for commissioning, monitoring, and controlling intelligent devices. Be Agile: Be a part of a sprint-based development team. Able to adapt and learn new technologies, tools, and practices. Analyze: Provide continuous improvement based on feedback and be highly proficient with current technology. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Electrical, Electronics, Computer, or Software Engineering from an accredited institution. A minimum 2 years of experience in software development. No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within an 80 km radius of Montreal, QC will be considered. Must be able to work in Canada without corporate sponsorship now and within the future Preferred qualifications: Experience with full life cycle software development including requirements, design, development, and testing  Experience working in Agile development teams High skill level with C/C++ and other object-oriented languages. Knowledge of Linux and command line-based tools. Experience with Atlassian tools (Jira/Bitbucket/Confluence) or GIT/GHE or similar Experience in Test Driven Development practices Position Criteria: Ability to travel up to 10% internationally and domestically.
