Millions of users. Billions of dollars. Thousands of cutting edge constantly evolving services. Planet-wide reach. If you are excited by working on software at the scale of one of the largest online marketplaces in the world, then this is your dream job. The Commerce + Ecosystems team is developing some of Microsoft’s largest scale and business critical cloud services.
We are the Azure Rating and Billing team. Our team enables Azure customers to use Azure Services, enable them to pay only for what they use and understand their infrastructure costs. We operate an infrastructure that handles 100s of billions of usage events per month. Our infrastructure is high scale, financially compliant, performant big data environment that produces multiple refreshes per day of charges for our customers based on their current usage of Azure Services. Since we occupy one of the uniquely central function for Azure Services, we have some unique responsibilities both internally to other Azure Services and externally for the end customers. We enable our internal partners in Azure services to find issues early with anomaly detection and daily updates to the financial reporting. We work to provide transparency to charges, ways to debug and triage customer issues quickly and efficiently. With this scale and reach you’ll find the opportunity to make an impact on Microsoft’s bottom-line directly as we process a significant portion of Microsoft’s revenue.
Responsibilities
We are looking to delight and empower our customers to manage their cloud costs more efficiently by reducing the latency by order of magnitude from deployment to charge updates without compromising scale. We are looking to automate triage of customer reported issues and enable streaming data science algorithms to flag and detect issues. To build this, we’re expanding and looking for great developers! If you have a history of designing, owning and shipping software, then we want to talk to you. You should have a solid understanding of the software development cycle, from architecture to testing. You’ll have a passion for quality, ability to design infrastructure that is consistently every time and be a creative thinker. You’ll write secure, reliable, scalable, and maintainable code, and then effectively debug it, test it and support it live. You should be comfortable owning a feature and making decisions independently. You will naturally share Microsoft’s culture and passion for growth mindset and set up for success and growth in your career.
