Job Description

Position Summary:

The Software Developer designs and develops software code. The Software Developer will analyze user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate processes or to improve existing systems. Provide technical knowledge, system design techniques, methodologies, tools, and standards utilized in the IT and business environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze current operational procedures and identifies opportunities for improvement

  • Write detailed description of user needs, program functions, and steps required to develop or modify applications
  • Review computer system capabilities, workflows, and scheduling limitations to determine if requested program or program change is possible within existing system
  • Study existing information processing systems to evaluate effectiveness and develops new systems to improve production or workflows as required
  • Prepare workflow charts and diagrams to specify in detail the operations to be performed by equipment and computer programs and operations to be performed
  • Implement or modify procedures and/or processes to solve business issues considering alternatives and limitations, environment and desired results
  • Work on projects that may involve interfaces across diverse hardware platforms, with multiple programming languages, development tools or data access tools
  • Plan and prepares technical reports, memoranda, and instructional manuals as documentation of program development
  • Supply Chain Focus – WMS, TMS and Regulatory Affairs
  • Upgrade system and corrects errors to maintain system as part of the IT Software Development Life Cycle after implementation
  • Comply with company’s Global IT Policies & Procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Travel and onsite support based upon key projects
  • Detail level understanding of the AS/400 and Warehouse Management and Transportation Management Systems.
  • Project Management Skill set including, Initiation, Planning, Executing, Controlling and Closure phases.
  • Study existing information processing systems to evaluate effectiveness and develops new systems to improve production or workflows as required
  • Implement or modify procedures and/or processes to solve business issues considering alternatives and limitations, environment and desired results
  • Work on projects that may involve interfaces across diverse hardware platforms, with multiple programming languages, development tools or data access tools

  • Monitored on projects progress and results. Plans work for programmers to meet project deadlines and delegates effectively to achieve project objectives.
  • Competent at the highest technical level in order to effectively supervise projects and resolve system problems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, equivalent work experience acceptable
  • Relevant technical certificates a plus
  • 5 years of related technical work experience
  • Strong interpersonal and excellent documentation skills
  • Able to assume and complete assignments independently
  • Ability to explain and champion technical concepts to a broad audience
  • Advanced knowledge in creating and maintaining management level and detailed
  • project plans utilizing Microsoft products
  • Excellent customer service skills required
  • Strong analytical and project management skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts
  • Knowledge of AS400, RPG IV programming language in ILE environment, Sequel Programming
  • Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems Applications is essential and an understanding of the following applications would be beneficial : BOSS, LogPro, Manhattan WMOS, WMI
  • MS Project, MS Excel, MS Word
