Eaton’s Utility sector has an opening for a Software Project Manager to join our Grid Automation Services team, responsible for leading customer-funded software development projects based on our Substation Automation family of products. This position may be located at our Montreal offices or remote from within the surrounding St. Bruno, South Shore, or Montreal areas. Eaton is accelerating and leading the industry with its digital offerings to utility customers. In this role, you will provide leadership and direction for one or more projects within the Energy Automation Solutions Division. You will be accountable for performance with respect to quality, on-time delivery, continuous improvement, and cost of your respective project(s). You will be the first line contact between the client(s) and the development team(s) and will have to represent the company during those interactions with the client(s). During you career at Eaton, you will be called upon to work on several projects based on Eaton products. Essential Responsibilities: Execution of all assigned projects. Management of the project budget and schedule, risks and opportunities, as well as the scope of the project as provided for in the contract, and upcoming change requests. Management of all parties involved in the project (client(s), development team(s), consultant(s), external supplier(s), etc). In collaboration with the development team’s subject matter experts, contribute to the development of project specifications, ensuring their alignment with customer’s needs. Calculation and reporting of metrics about project progression and vitality, and communication of project statuses both internally and to clients. Usage of agile project management best practices, in alignment with the development team’s software development process. Management of project’s work items backlog, including prioritization and user stories refinement. Identification of creative solutions to overcome obstacles in project activities. Oversight of project work and quality assurance in accordance with company standards, and in response to client expectations. May be called upon to contribute to help resolve various situations related to project needs, both in terms of resource management and technical tasks. Qualifications Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or Electrical Engineering, or other similar program from an accredited institution. Minimum experience of 5 years in project management. Practical experience in the development of automation systems or products, proven as a software developer or similar function at the beginning of their career. Work proficiently in French and English. Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite office tools (Word, Excel, MS Project, Power Point). Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without corporate sponsorship. Preferred Qualifications: PMP Certification. Strong ability to solve problems. Knowledge of software development, object-oriented programming, and C++ language. Previous experience developing software for embedded devices, building APIs and desktop applications. Electrical utility work experience and/or knowledge of electrical systems. Knowledge of the Visual Studio development environment with Team Foundation.
