Intel's corporate IPAS organization (Intel Security Assurance and Security) is looking for experienced hands-on students in breaking and protecting security of SW/FW/HW/Crypto products implementations, who are PASSIONATE about Offensive Security Research (OSR) - to join its iSTARE team!

iSTARE (Intel Security Threat Analysis & Reverse Engineering) team develops and applies multidisciplinary technical expertise and disruptive technology, to protect Intel’s Platforms/SoCs/IPs from a broad spectrum of evolving Cyber risks and threats.

We combine decades of team experience in security with an extremely diverse engineering and science expertise, including: Electronics, Computers, SW, HW, Crypto, Math, Failure Analysis, Nanotechnologies, Silicon technologies, Chemistry, AI and more. 

Your Challenge

In this position, you will join our researchers and take an active role in complex, multidisciplinary security research projects. Command emerging threat landscape in hacker community to prioritize offensive security research focus, navigate around ambiguities and obstacles to independently solve complex problems.

Explore and invent software and hardware techniques as a method of attack against compute targets. Develop proof of concepts to characterize exploitability and impacts. Recommend systemic mitigations and demonstrate their robustness across a diverse portfolio of products. Lead automation pathfinding to improve security assurance capabilities of product teams.


Qualifications

We are looking for a passionate and curious student with experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Low-level development and understanding of the underlying firmware and hardware.
  • Reverse engineering of x86, x64, MIPS, ARM or others
  • Hex-Rays IDA Pro, or equivalent, and plugin loaders development
  • Penetration testing of embedded devices (FW extraction, binary analysis)
  • Fuzzing frameworks, exploitation development; ASM C C++ knowledge, and low-level C programming.
  • Ways to stand out from the crowd
  • Understanding of complex SW/FW/HW projects design.
  • Understanding of modern embedded cryptography underlying mathematics and common security issues.
  • Experience in developing tools for automation in vulnerability research, using C C++ and Python GO.
  • Understanding experience with micro-architectural attacks (side channel, fault injection, etc.)

Work Model for this Role

This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site.
