This position will be a hybrid office/remote role as long as you live within 50 miles of our Raleigh, NC facility. Relocation benefits and sponsorship will be provided within the United States only. Position Overview: The Software Test Engineer supports Eaton’s Critical Power Solutions Division by evaluation of communications hardware and software products and features that provide web-based user interface to our range of power systems. This role will involve the translation of product requirements into design and implementation of test software for product pre-launch validation as well as post launch regression of subsequent releases. In this function you will: Participate in project-wide reviews of requirements, system architecture and detailed design documents. Implement robust, scalable, high quality test automation suites to improve quality and productivity of functional, regression and system tests. Execute black, gray and white box test cases against individual system components and platform APIs. Be able to develop, execute and maintain extensible automated tests using Lua or Python; Java, C#, and C++ may be required in other parts of testing. Implement strategies for load and performance testing. Identify opportunities for process, tools and test methodology improvements and drive implementation. Debug problems using coding and other techniques. Communicate technical concepts and information to internal staff/peers and stakeholders; strong verbal and written documentation and interpersonal communication skills. Validate official customer product releases as needed to support the target release schedule. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering from an accredited institution Minimum of one (1) years of Software Development Testing or Test Tool Development Experience (internship included). Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering from an accredited institution. Minimum of two (2) years experience in testing end-user protocols, such as Modbus/TCP, SNMP, BACnet/IP, Websocket. Minimum of two (2) years development experience in Lua, Python, or other scripting languages such as Java & C#. Position Success Criteria: Use logic and problem solving methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions. Performs work with a sense of urgency and high attention to detail. Proficient in Microsoft Office products and features.
