Intel is seeking highly qualified candidates to join our Network and Edge Group (NEX), as a Software Enabling and Optimization Engineer. Join the NEX Edge and Cloud Video Division, at the Marine Gateway site in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia. Our team is leading the innovation of Software video compression algorithms at Intel, targeting Intel® Xeon® CPUs, edge, and data center platforms. As a member of our team, you will get to take part in producing cutting edge next generation video compression technologies, advancing Scalable Video Technology (SVT) and helping some of the world's leading communication and cloud service providers scale media services with the latest and greatest Intel products. SVT, Intel's video compression architecture, was successfully released as part of multiple codec standard implementations and provides market leading optimizations on Intel processors designed to scale from edge to cloud.

Your tasks would include, but would not be limited to:

• Developing and optimizing algorithms for video compression

• Conducting evaluation tests of existing encoder features

• Performing comparative analysis of the SVT encoders against other encoders

• Assisting in performing experiments on encoder features being developed, analyzing, and debugging performance issues in the encoder

• Producing comprehensive test case reports

• Developing automated tests as well as collecting data and analyzing results

Qualifications

Candidate must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your schoolwork, classes, research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences.

This is an entry level position, and it will be compensated accordingly.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidate must have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering Physics, or related disciplines.

6+ months of experience or equivalent coursework in some of the following areas:

• C programming language

• Python multipurpose programming language

• One or more version control tools such as SVN, Git

• Command line applications in both Windows and Linux

• Batch and Bash commands

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with video compression algorithms

• Experience with FFmpeg and any video rendering software solutions

• Completed University undergraduate courses discussing video compression

• Experience with edge computing and networking technologies

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in US, Colorado:
$97,500.00-$146,340.00
