Solution Architect & Evangelist for ISV Partners
MicrosoftSydney, New South Wales, AustraliaUpdate time: January 1,1
Job Description

The Solution Architect for Independent Software Vendors (ISV) building B2B Cloud based applications is known as a Technical Evangelist (TE) within Microsoft. The role is a Pre-Sales Technical role working within Microsoft's partner organisation, One Commercial Partner (OCP). The goal is to work with a defined list of ISV partners to help them innovate, optimise and architect for Security, Reliability and Cost. It is a collaborative role working with Partner Development Managers, other TE’s, Partner Cloud Solution Architects and Engineering, amongst other groups.
The role will suit anyone who is enthusiastic about delivering innovative applications and solutions using Cloud. Experiences that will serve you well would be:

  • Building and tinkering with Cloud technologies
  • Application development exposure (either as a developer, devops engineer, vendor, consulting)
  • Cloud Native Application design and development

The TE typically engages with our largest and most influential ISV partners. The TE represents Microsoft to the partners technical audience, communicates our tech strategy, sells our vision and brings partners along in the digital transformation journey. The outcome will be to drive long-term revenue, accelerate cloud consumption (through innovation to help the partner sell to more customers) and architect for partner profitability.

The nature of the work means that you would spend your time between Partner premises, Microsoft offices and remote working therefore offering great flexibility. Some interstate travel will arise from time to time (2 – 3 days, a few times a year would be a reasonable benchmark) but in general we try to plan ahead and collaborate across the team to minimise that impact on individuals.

Responsibilities

The type of activities Technical Evangelists get involved with, but not exhaustive as every person and partner is different:

  • Running PoC side by side with the ISV
  • Design workshops
  • Ideation workshops and experimentation
  • Building Lab content to support enablement activity
  • Networking ISV’s with Engineering groups
  • Troubleshooting – not as a replacement for Support but because you are curious
  • One to Many style Bootcamps / Hands on Labs
  • Hosting / Presenting at MeetUps

Qualifications

  • One or more demonstrable super powers in Cloud technology e.g. Cloud App Developer, DevOps engineer, Cloud Architect, K8s king, IoT master, etc
  • Track record of building technical relationships with Technology leaders with Customers and Partners
  • Community engagement through blogging, meetups, industry events
  • 5+ years relevant industry experience
