SolutionsEngineering Assistant Manager
General Description
This role is responsible for analyzing and managing Solution Design and Engineering projects. This will include but not limited to Network Design, Facility Design, General Solutioning and re-engineering activities. You will work closely with key stakeholders both internal and external to attain the project results and objective within the agreed timeframe.
Specific Accountabilities
- Assist with the assigned solution design projects for existing and potential customers
- Provide analysis and design support in the pursuit of new business, operational implementations and re-engineering initiatives
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to understand the project/solution requirements, communicate data requirements and methodology
- Documentation and reporting of project status and key milestone reports/analysis.
- Utilizing appropriate software tools for developing, modeling, evaluating and selecting appropriate solution options. Help identify requirements for, and develop appropriate proprietary tools to support the solution design process where required; e.g. Network optimization, Lay-out design etc
- Assist in project managing consultancy projects as required
- Assist in developing and carry-out training programs that support the development of core and specialist solution design competencies across the region. This includes network design, facility design, general solutioning and process re-engineering capabilities
- Assist in project deliverables and involvement in solution presentation to customers
Skills Required
- Must be conversant in warehousing, transportation and broader supply chain topics
- Must have experience in or exposure to logistics operations in order to develop operationally feasible solutions
- Must be an advanced user of tools such as Microsoft Excel and/or Access to perform complex data analysis
- Experience with customer presentations / public speaking
- Written and spoken English
- Commercially astute and customer focused
- Team player
Experience and Qualifications
- University degree/s in Engineering and/or Supply chain and/or relevant discipline
- Over 4 years of similar experience in logistics solution design and/or over 4 years of experience in logistics operations management in warehouse/transport
- Exposure to some of the following topics: storage mediums, material handling equipment, space analysis, manpower analysis, inventory/SKU analysis, operational key performance indicators, continuous improvement initiatives, transportation methods, packaging, secondary operations, costing
- Experience in at least one modeling/simulation/CAD tool such as Paragon, CAPS, CAST, i2, Manugistics, AutoCAD or CLASS is desirable. Equivalent operations experience may be considered in lieu of modeling experience in some instances
- Experience with process flow diagrams, time studies, methods/work study and/or other performance analysis methodologies
- Proficient in PowerPoint
