About the role

The purpose of Rio Tinto Procurement (RTP) is to deliver measurable value to Rio Tinto Business Units. This is achieved through driving the establishment or improvement of competitive frameworks and markets for the purchase of goods and services enabled by etechnologies and resulting in continuous improvement, improved Supplier Safety and measurable savings. RTP provides procurement and supply chain consultancy services for Rio Tinto Group Companies and manages spend of around USD10 billion per annum.

With a spend of over $1000M in China in 2017, RTP China Sourcing team is responsible for identifying, prequalifying and managing Chinese suppliers to Rio Tinto operations.

The China Sourcing team is one of the key components of Rio Tinto’s global sourcing and procurement strategy to ensure benefits to Rio Tinto Business Units via provision of market intelligence and increased security of supply that will be derived from an expansion in the China Sourcings supply base.

This role will be sitting at Capital and Major Projects under China Sourcing team within Global Sourcing Department of RTP and assists the category Leaders and Manager to look after the sourcing and procurement of the assigned categorie.

The Sourcing Analyst is a key role in the China Sourcing team, who will be acting as the bridge to streamline the communication and negotiation among Rio Tinto entities and the China suppliers, with the responsibilities on coordinating with China Sourcing suppliers and end user(s) within Rio Tinto group and developing and implementing the sourcing strategies for the assigned categories.

Reporting to the Manager, Capital and Major Projects., you will:

? Account for the working with end userand sustaining/major project stakeholders on the development, implementation and managing the sourcing strategies on assigned categories

? Responsible for the whole stage of the sourcing and procurement, including, but not limited to, incountry market study, short and long term category strategy drafting and implementation, supplier relationship management, driving of innovation for the sustainable value creation, and assistance on the tendering and contract execution until the delivery of the goods.

? Close collaboration with the peers, end users within Rio entities, RTA category leads, RTP hubs and the associated third parties including the engineering firms to facilitate the market knowledge, pre-and post order discussion, quality assurance, and after sales service as well.

? Provide the guidelines on the cultural and safety to his/her suppliers.

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

? Excellent English capability - written and spoken.

? University graduate majoring in commerce, or related engineering degree is preferable.

? At least 4 years of experience in a sourcing or procurement role.

? Previous experience on safety management ? Previous experience on the manufacturing area

? Commercial experience in a large organisation is preferable.

? Good command of PC skills – Microsoft and other related packages

? Knowledge of the manufacturing and geernic engineering

? Experience on the quality assurance ISO9001

? Safety awareness and knowledge

? Experience in cross cultural relationship or negotiations
