Sous Chef

What you will be doing:

  • Ensure the procedures of the EcoSure food safety program are consistently maintained
  • Ensure employees adhere to the health & safety requirements
  • Contribute ideas on how to make the operation efficient with the key being to always elevate to world class luxury
  • Works closely with colleagues in the preparation and presentation of food
  • Manage food ordering and production levels to business levels
  • Maintain and create departmental standards determined by the Executive Chef ensuring they are adhered to
  • Ensure the culinary team is working clean, efficient and organized
  • Responsible for Kitchen operations in the absence of the Executive Chef
  • Assess problems and situations taking necessary corrective action in a timely manner

Your experience and skills include:

  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work cohesively and collectively as part of a team
  • Minimum 8-10 years' well-rounded experience in all areas of the kitchen, including 1-2 years as Chef de Partie
  • Valid trade qualifications
  • Must have a highly flexible work schedule and be available for on call shifts
  • Must be an effective leader, manager, trainer, administrator and team player with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Completion of Level 1 or 2 First Aid course is an asset
  • Must be innovative, detail-orientated and quality conscious

Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.  The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
