China is the story of our time and Reuters is looking for a self-starter with big ideas to tell it from the bustling south. Based in Shenzhen, the South China Correspondent will have a wide remit that includes some of the country’s biggest tech companies and hottest startups, as well as trade, economic and consumption trends, and Chinese society. The focus will primarily be on initiative stories with occasional spot news demands, and has the makings to be one of the most impactful journalism postings anywhere in China. We are looking for an ambitious journalist with a knack for storytelling and a track record of producing great initiative stories. The successful candidate will be self-motivated and thrive when working independently as well as in teams. S/he will also be handy with video and pictures, shooting material for stories and working closely with specialist visuals colleagues on planning and coverage.
