Eaton is currently seeking a Specialist - Acquisition & Divestiture Accounting to join our team. This position is based at our Corporate Headquarters in Beachwood, OH. Position Overview: This position partners with corporate development, other corporate functions and the business finance and integration teams to provide accounting support and oversight and financial reporting and analysis related to both actual and potential acquisitions and divestitures. In this role, you will: Advise the operations on acquisition accounting and appropriate purchase price accounting adjustments Work closely with third party valuation firms and the acquired operations to support the fixed asset and intangible valuation process for acquired businesses Coordinate monthly meetings to discuss purchase accounting and other finance related integration activities Collect, analyze and organize documentation required to support purchase accounting adjustments and work with the acquired operations to record them Reconcile goodwill, intangibles and other accounts of acquired businesses and prepare management reporting Reconcile, review and analyze appraised fixed asset and intangible values to obtain management approval and ensure correct values are loaded in Eaton’s financial systems Provide accounting insight and analysis related to divested businesses and assist in the preparation and recording of entries required to recognize the proper gain/loss on sale Develop and maintain relationships with various corporate functions to provide accounting support and financial analysis Interpret U.S. GAAP and Eaton financial policies on accounting matters and provide clear and concise guidance on application and account usage to acquired operations Liaison with external and internal auditors to explain acquisition accounting and provide detailed supporting documentation Assist with ongoing accounting and impairment testing related to acquired businesses Participate in and lead special projects and implement process improvements to help drive efficiencies in the finance organization When we embrace the different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds that make each of us unique, we — as individuals and as a company — are stronger. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or Finance from accredited institution Minimum four (4) years of progressive experience in accounting and/or finance Must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in Accounting, Business and/or Finance Working knowledge of US GAAP CPA Public accounting experience Previous experience within a large, global manufacturing organization Position Success Criteria: Strong leadership skills Highly developed strategic/analytical thinking Ability to express the complex in simple, easy-to-grasp ways, verbally and in writing Is curious, inquisitive and comfortable challenging the status quo Strong drive for results Attention to detail and accuracy Can work easily with a diverse set of people to get things done with and through others Working knowledge of financial systems such as Oracle, SAP, HFM, and Longview Proficient use of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint applications We are committed to ensuring equal employment opportunities for all job applicants and employees.
