Salesforce Platform Architect

In this vital role you will be a critical member of the Salesforce global platform whose mission is to (1) evangelize Salesforce within the Amgen ecosystem, (2) enable business partners to solve business problems, and (3) empower product teams to deliver innovative Salesforce solutions.

Architects work with Platform Admins, Product Owners, Solution Architects, and within the broader technology teams at Amgen to develop integrated solutions, processes and toolsets built on/around the Salesforce platform. The focus of the Platform Architect will be to design and implement Salesforce related capabilities that enable products teams to deliver value faster with high quality by connecting disparate systems and automating manual process to streamline all aspects of the Salesforce product development lifecycle at Amgen. You will stay abreast of the Salesforce roadmap and capabilities, provide feedback to and develop standard methodologies, optimize engineering or release processes, and mentor others in the community.

  • Influences the broader Salesforce architecture and ecosystem across Amgen’s product and platform teams.
  • Designs and implements reusable solutions (e.g. integrated test automation capabilities) for product teams to reduce lead time and increase agility
  • Develop automated QA processes and frameworks to ensure changes are tested to required standards prior to deployment
  • Create and maintain Technical Design Specification for technology owned by the platform team.
  • Advocates, promotes and develops Salesforce DevOps culture, mindset and practices across the organization
  • Optimize Amgen's existing CI/CD delivery pipelines and processes - streamlining current processes with a focus on automation and systems integrations
  • Drive the creation of application and technical design standards which leverage best practices and effectively integrate Salesforce into Amgen’s infrastructure.
  • Research Salesforce capabilities as needed to suit business requirements, and provide gap analysis.
  • Partner with Development Teams to ensure agile software delivery and DevOps practices are applied to move most effectively within our CI/CD pipeline
  • Communicate software and system designs using UML, Miro, Lucid Chart, or other modeling tools and software. Collaborate with team members to apply abstractions and service-orientation to foster scalability
  • Contribute to a program vision while advising and articulating program/project strategies on enabling technologies
  • Provide guidance on application and integration development best practices, Enterprise Architecture standards, functional and technical solution architecture & design, environment management, testing, and Platform education
  • Identification and pro-active management of risk areas and commitment to seeing an issue through to complete resolution
  • Negotiate solutions to complex problems with both the product teams and third-party service providers
  • Work closely with other developers in the team including business analyst, QA analyst and project managers

Required Qualifications

  • Salesforce Systems Architect or Application Architect certification(s)
  • Experience designing solutions in an enterprise environment with numerous applications, development teams, and security provisions and controls
  • Strong understanding of common system architecture, provisioning, and administration
  • Extensive hands-on technical, solution architecture and engineering experience with the Salesforce platform
  • Demonstrably excellent, context-specific and adaptive communication and presentation skills across a variety of audiences and situations; established habit of proactive thinking and behavior and the desire and ability to self-start/learn and apply new technologies
  • Understand Salesforce security and apply the OWD, sharing patterns, profiles or permissions to your applications
  • Experience working with Version Control systems (Gitlab), branching/environment strategy, etc.
  • An understanding of web services, data modeling, and enterprise application integration concepts, including experience with enterprise integration tools (ESBs and/or ETL tools), and common integration design patterns with enterprise systems (e.g. CMS, ERP, HRIS, DWH/DM)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing sophisticated products in a regulated or compliant such as GXP, HIPAA or SOX
  • Copado Fundamentals I/II (Admin / Developer) or other Salesforce DevOps related certifications
  • Experience designing or administering a shared Salesforce org with numerous independent development teams
  • Hands on experience creating / maintaining automated test suites for Salesforce solutions leveraging third party test automation tools (e.g. Provar, Tosca, Copado Robotic Testing)
  • Experience designing and implementing a test automation framework/strategy for Salesforce platforms and products
  • 4+ years of working with clients and vendors developing solutions and supporting projects from requirements gathering to release management
  • Experience in SFDC APIs, SOSL, SOQL, SOAP or REST based web services, SQL, XML, and JavaScript
