Specialist Information Systems Engineer – Manufacturing Information & Technology Systems

We are looking for a creative, innovative, highly motivated and strategic Information Systems professional to architect and lead the design and deployment of Manufacturing Information & Technology Systems in the areas of data collection, historian, integration, batch reporting & AI driven advance analytics for our manufacturing facility in Dublin, incorporating the latest digital advancements in alignment with Industry 4.0 / Smart Manufacturing principles.
This role will involve developing and continuously aligning the site manufacturing data ecosystem with rapidly changing business needs and Amgen IS technical roadmaps. They will support complex and exciting IS initiatives that require understanding of analytical problem-solving techniques, project management, lifecycle management and Operational Excellence.
This role is required to possess strong domain expertise in Manufacturing Information/Data Management and technical experience in database and data historian technologies and integration tools. This candidate is expected be proficient and enthusiastic in the areas of Industry 4.0 / Smart Manufacturing and leveraging data and digital technologies to transform manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities:
Own and shape the design and technology of the Manufacturing Information & Technology ecosystem.
Partner with the business and system architects to develop a vision and multi-year roadmap for the advancement and lifecycle management of the applications.
Manage and/or support the execution of a varied portfolio of IS projects with appropriate portfolio planning, resource and risk management and financial management for the portfolio.
Collaborate with the service owners, support teams and the application run management to maintain and support the systems.
Accountable for system compliance, administration, Disaster Recovery, OS & Application Patching.
Advancement and maintenance of cyber security controls for manufacturing systems
Work closely with the delivery and platform teams to ensure that the applications are aligned with standard city planning approved architectural and development guidelines.
Lead selected efforts to design, build, and develop rapid Proof-of-Concept (POC) automated solutions and services. Quickly and iteratively prove or disprove the concepts being considered.
Collaborate with business partners to understand how automation can improve workflow and productivity.
Synthesize requirements from end-users, application architects, and cybersecurity experts to develop the best automation solutions.
Work closely with other business and IS Process Engineers to identify opportunities to stop inefficient practices, simplify business processes, and codify into automated solutions and platforms.
Shaping Amgen's future – Keep track of industry and technology trends, connect and foster external networking opportunities to deliver valuable insight from other similar professionals in our industry.
Performs cross system analysis, feasibility analysis, scope projects, prioritize deliverables, and recommend optimal solution. Manage multiple initiatives and priorities
Effectively manage relationships with IS service owners, business partners, enterprise IS service partners, and vendors
Communicates with multiple levels within the organization, highlighting issues and proposing solutions.
Accountable to elicit and analyze needs identified by business stakeholders and convert them into functional design.
Travel: Domestic and international travel up to 20% might be essential
Basic Qualifications:
Master’s degree and 4 years of information systems or engineering experience or
Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of information systems or engineering experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Systems
8+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with 5+ years of demonstrated ability in the Pharmaceutical or Biotechnology industries
Knowledge and experience supporting various aspects of Manufacturing Automation Platforms from an IT perspective including system architectures, database philosophies, cyber security, IT hardware, networking, system interfacing and integration
Experience in PLC, Batch and SCADA programming and troubleshooting across multiple platforms - Rockwell Automation, Siemens, GE, Wonderware, B&R, etc.
Experience with industrial networks such as ControlNet (CNET), DeviceNet, Profibus, etc.
Experience with Data Historian and/or MES and/or laboratory systems and/or IS platforms
Strong experience in methods and technologies to support Manufacturing Data and System integrations (e.g. SQL, Web Services/messaging, data mapping, OPC)
Knowledge and experience of assessing, implementing and sustaining Industry 4.0 technologies
Familiarity with industry standards for software development life cycle methodologies and 21 CFR Part 11
Experience with validation and change control methodology
Hands-on experience with computerized systems including troubleshooting, reliability and performance improvements
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment
Ability to lead multiple tasks and effectively set priorities
Strong computer skills and possess the ability to apply science-based thinking to practical applications
