This role will be based in South Milwaukee, WI. Relocation is offered! As a Specialist Product Engineer, you will act as product owner for all technical decisions for the product line. This role is responsible for sustaining engineering support for medium voltage reclosers, fault interrupters and switches. You will identify creative solutions, perform engineering analysis, create detailed designs, oversee verification, and contribute to the implementation of product cost savings, product improvement, and engineering process improvement projects. In this function you will: Lead product design projects involving cost-out, field reliability improvement, factory flow improvement, etc. Develop, maintain, and improve product design and product definition data (bills of materials, drawings, specifications) related to reclosers, fault interrupters and switches. Own technical aspects of introduction of new products and changes to existing products. Support production and manufacturing engineering with resolution of production and testing issues. Work with global suppliers and Supplier Quality Engineers to define and conduct supplier assessments, capability analysis, and part approvals. Work with Service, Quality Engineers, Application Engineers and customers to analyze, document and resolve product reliability issues. Write product analysis reports for affected customers. Drive efforts to improve product rationalization, product cost, reliability, and manufacturability. Design for Cost/Design for Manufacture Analysis (DFM/DFA) on individual parts, subassemblies with the ability to propose alternate materials and methods of assembly and manufacture. Perform engineering analysis and digital simulation leveraging advanced tools (CAD, FEA, statistical analysis, software applications, electrical/mechanical analysis tools, etc.). Coordinate the execution of functional and reliability test plans utilizing both internal and external lab resources. Apply relevant Industry Standards to product design, including development and execution of design verification and validation. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution Minimum 7 years of engineering experience with medium voltage systems Must be able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now and in the future Preferred Qualifications: Five or more years experience with switchgear technology Green belt or black belt certified Product design, DFM/DFA, and manufacturing knowledge. Position Criteria: Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills Excellent computer and data analysis skills. Proficient using Microsoft Office software Problem solving experience using Root Cause Analysis techniques.
