What you will do

Let’s do this! Let’s change the world! In this vital role you will be responsible for production planning at ARI (Amgen Rhode Island) and will report within the ARI Supply Chain team. This role will be responsible for the development, maintenance, and communication of short-term and long-term production plans to support products manufactured at ARI. This position will be located at the West Greenwich, Rhode Island manufacturing site.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as one of the primary interfaces with Corporate and Regional Planning on one or more drug substance/product planning networks.
  • Conduct scenario analyses to evaluate implications of changes to the production plan.
  • Represent Supply Chain on site project teams/new product introduction (NPI) project teams.
  • Develop and implement production planning tools, solutions and methodologies to ensure successful execution of the supply plan, management of inventory and scrap per corporate and site targets.
  • Work with diverse local and global teams and all levels of management to deliver standardized processes related to production planning.
  • Lead cross-functional projects and initiatives.
  • Communicate with senior management on a prepared and ad hoc basis.
  • Present proposals and defend positions with stakeholders.
  • Thoroughly understand the various manufacturing process requirements to translate the production plan into a concrete supply plan within SAP or other ERP systems for ARI.
  • Lead and partner to resolve planning conflicts impacting ARI operations on a day-to-day basis.
  • Continuously drive improvement in the Supply Chain process by defining strategies and translating them into actionable objectives.
  • Create and sustain strong partnerships across ARI and throughout the global network.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring of colleagues to establish an informed and cross-functional Supply Chain team.
  • Lead or partner in the development of strategies for global supply concerns impacting ARI.
  • Generate, review and update existing procedures (SOPs/policies), own Trackwise records (Change Control, NC, CAPA).
  • Develop and maintain key KPI to show health of the Planning organization.
  • Occasional travel up to 5%.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree OR
  • Master’s degree and 3 years of Manufacturing, Supply Chain, or Operations experience OR
  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of Manufacturing, Supply Chain, or Operations experience OR
  • Associate’s degree and 10 years of Manufacturing, Supply Chain, or Operations experience OR
  • High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Manufacturing, Supply Chain, or Operations experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4 + years’ experience in operations including supply chain, planning, manufacturing, quality or distribution.
  • 2 + years of independent project management (leading and contributing to teams, cross-functional problem solving, performance management, process or business development and improvement).
  • Experience with basic SAP and RapidResponse (or equivalent ERP systems) as it relates to production planning, QA, or Manufacturing.
  • Experience with CDOCS, Trackwise.
  • Ability to be on call to consult on issues as they arise.
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills.
  • Fundamental project management skills.
  • Experience on cross-functional teams in a leadership capacity.
  • Ability to thoughtfully and optimally influence and negotiate to resolve issues and gain consensus.
  • Ability to multi-task and function in a dynamic environment.
  • Proven ability to learn and teach new ideas.
  • Ability to communicate across all levels of the organization including across global customers with virtual communication tools.
  • Familiarity with the WERUM MES operating system and Amgen’s utilization of the system.
