Job Overview
The purpose of this role is to perform assessments and / or deal with problems to provide solutions for internal / external clients, using procedures, experience and knowledge appropriate for the consideration of Type Approval documents (as the main function) and Plan Approval documents (as a secondary function) for electrical- and control engineering systems.
The focus will be to provide electrical- and control engineering knowledge to deliver an effective commercial focussed service and support for external clients and supporting internal stakeholders.
Job Responsibilities
· Appraise design documentation and type test reports for the Type Approval (or Plan Approval) of electrical- and control engineering systems in accordance with appropriate Lloyd’s Register Rules & Regulations, Statutory Regulations and International Standards.
· Support local offices and witness Type Tests where appropriate.
· To assess the time required for Type Approval work to be undertaken within an agreed fee / cost structure.
· Monitor project progress, intermediate- and final due dates and maintain a good contact with clients in order to keep the project on track.
· Monitor spends against budget and contract requirements.
· Build and maintain a good relationship with our clients and internal stakeholders.
Job Requirements
· Bachelor or Master degree in Marine Electrical Engineering, Control/Automation Engineering or equivalent.
· Good communication skills.
· Fluent in English, both oral and in writing.
· Demonstrated knowledge of Industrial electrical and control components and able to apply appropriate theoretical and practical methods to the analysis and solution of engineering problems.
· Several years of experience with in the maritime Electrotechnical industry.
· Knowledge of one or more of the following is required:
Power Generation;
Power Distribution;
Control, Alarm and Safety Systems;
Navigation Arrangements;
· Knowledge of Quality Assurance systems is preferred.
· Able to work in a team as well as independently.
