As Specialist Development Supply chain – Vendor Management you will be in charge of managing the activities and performance of assigned Logistic Service Providers (LSP's – external warehouse). You will set up and qualify new providers or new distribution capabilities as needed. You will need to ensure that the assigned LSPs partners are ready to execute Amgen’s clinical trials. You are also the main connection between Amgen’s Development Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, peer networks, and the assigned vendor portfolio. In this role, you collect information on local requirements and needs (business and cultural) and share the information with internal Amgen customers. You will be a part of a diverse and globally-located team with peers and key stakeholders located at key Amgen sites.

Under the minimal direction of (Sr.) Manager/ Director DSC, manage the following responsibilities:

  • Daily management of assigned LSP and active handling of all issues and developments
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of LSP operations
  • Lead performance and business reviews with LSP on current business, critical issues, reporting, and improvements
  • Drive root cause analysis and performance analysis and risk assessment, develop action plans to improve or mitigate risk with departments involved. Keep track of issues and input for BRM and audits
  • Drive implementation of new capabilities/ new process requirements and process improvements at assigned LSP or on a global scale
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends and developments in logistics including and providing expert advice for the development of new processes, approaches, and strategies in the supply chain
  • Maintain excellent relationship with LSP on facility and partner level, making sure Amgen’s interests are served to the maximum
  • Maintain and manage agreements with LSP and actively review periodically
  • Manage resolution of audit findings at LSP
  • Develop and maintain departmental SOPs and other controlled documents
  • Seek structural improvements and cost-saving opportunities in processes internally and with LSP on a global level. Execute on those under minimal guidance and report progress
  • Liaise with global counterparts, relevant departments, and networks to ensure global alignment on LSP management
  • Own quality records related to LSP activities – Deviations/ CAPA, change control
  • Manage other projects as assigned

  • Doctorate Degree Or
  • Master's Degree & 2 years of Supply Chain experience Or
  • Bachelor's Degree & 4 years of Supply Chain experience Or
  • Associate's degree & 10 years of Supply Chain experience Or
  • High school diploma/GED & 12 years of Supply Chain experience

Preferred qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Life Sciences, Engineering or Business
  • 5 + years of work experience in the planning, manufacturing, and global distribution of medicinal products
  • 3 + years organizational or program management (leading teams, cross-functional problem solving, performance management, budget oversight, process development, and improvement)
  • 3 + years of work experience in clinical study design, approval, supply, and management
  • 3+ years of supply chain management using SAP (logistics, supply planning, demand management)
  • APICS CPIM/CIRM certification

Knowledge of clinical supply chain management

  • Experience in using ERP systems, i.e., SAP
  • Result focused and proven ability to deliver results
  • Independent self-starter, able to work autonomously, under pressure, and in teams
  • Project Management
  • Experience managing suppliers and improving processes
  • Quick process understanding, insight, and visualizing
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
