In this vital role you will collaborate with business partners, service owners and IS peers to develop dashboards, predictive and prescriptive models and insights across the AML site. This role will innovate and build significant business impact through the strategic use of sophisticated analytics techniques to help Amgen with its mission of getting patients the therapies they need.

The Sr Associate Business System Analyst is responsible for system administration and for owning the client relationship activities including but not limited to client’s departmental meetings participation, client project portfolio management, business case development, and collaboration with the IS Architecture teams.   This role is also accountable for the maintenance, development, prioritization, implementation of the client strategy, and providing mentorship for informatics/IS related solutions.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Development of data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence capabilities across Amgen’s commercial organization
  • Be part of multi-functional teams on projects and/or programs with aims to systematically derive insights that ultimately derive meaningful business value for Amgen and our patients
  • Identify business needs and proposing potential analytics approaches for solutions
  • Build high-performance algorithms, prototypes, predictive models and proof of concepts using Python or R
  • Build prototypes and demonstrations to better access and utilize data assets
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with partners to develop and implement strategies that are relevant to the business including but not limited to; programs, processes and systems.
  • Ensure systems meet business requirements and industry standard methodologies
  • Assure compliance with regulatory, security, and privacy requirements as it relates to data assets
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of information systems technology and resources within multiple departments/ functions.
  • Facilitate process-mapping sessions for very sophisticated business processes. Supplies to and/or develops the ROI model and/or the business case.
  • Build sophisticated level ad hoc reports for sophisticated database structures using standard tools.
  • Build sophisticated software test plans, scripts, and tests.

The Basic Qualifications are:

Master’s degree

OR

Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of experience in Information Systems

OR

Associate’s degree and 6 years of experience in Information Systems

OR 

High school diploma / GED and 8 years of experience in Information Systems

Beyond that, the additional preferred qualifications are:

  • Education Background in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Applied Physics or Statistics
  • Experience in Data Historian Systems (DHS) like OSI PI
  • Experience on data science, business, statistics, data mining, applied mathematics, business analytics, engineering, computer science
  • Experience working in a GMP regulated environment
  • Experience working as business analyst, in a technology team
  • Experience with databases including relational, NoSQL, and Graph
  • Ability to manage  large and sophisticated datasets and distributed computing tools (Spark, Hive, etc)
  • Ability to collaborate and influence business partners  to drive analytic projects end-to-end
  • Written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish.
  • Experience or Knowledge of Cloud technologies
  • Experience or Knowledge of Programming Data Analytical Technologies  with Spotfire, Tableau, Python, R.
  • Experience or Knowledge of Data management technologies like Databricks or Oracle
  • Experience or Knowledge of any systems like PCS, MES or other ERP Business application
