What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. The Department of Oncology and Inflammation Research is seeking a Sr. Associate Scientist to join the In Vivo Pharmacology group. In this vital role you will be responsible for exploring and understanding the pharmacology of drug targets and surrogate therapeutics within autoimmune, inflammatory diseases, and cancer.
The candidate will be part of a laboratory group and contribute to multiple project teams, and will collaborate with other research scientists at multiple Amgen sites, including teams in other functional areas such as Therapeutic Discovery, Medical Sciences, and Computational Biology. The candidate will apply in vivo pharmacology and animal models to validate and accelerate molecules through the research pipeline. In addition, the candidate will be expected to publish and present at national/international conferences.
- Contribute independently and as part of the team in in vivo studies, performing techniques with precision (dosing, sample collection and necropsy), monitoring animal welfare and support ex vivo studies.
- Plan and perform in vivo experiments, collect and analyze data, communicate with manager and colleagues, present results in team meetings.
- Show good scientific judgment in studies and be accountable for delivering accurate data

Basic Qualifications:
- Master’s degree & 3 years of scientific experience OR
- Bachelor’s degree & 5 years of scientific experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD or MD, in the fields of immunology, autoimmunity, cancer immunotherapy, microbiology or human genetics
- Demonstrated track record of independent critical thinking and scientific achievement in the area of immunology or oncology.
- Demonstrated experience in pharmacology and in vivo models of inflammation.
- Hands on experience administering drugs through various routes, with molecular and cellular biological technique, and experience with flow cytometry and multi-parametric analysis.
- Highly motivated, creative and collaborative. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to collaborate across teams and troubleshoot to solve problems.
- Flexibility to effectively work independently and as part of the team to advance programs
- Desire to learn new skills, take on new ideas and branch out to new territory.
