The Discovery Technologies team at our Thousand Oaks, CA site is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Sr. Associate Scientist to join our early drug discovery efforts. In this vital role you will be responsible for the design, optimization, troubleshooting and execution of microtiter-plate assays. Duties include assay development and optimization; equipment (dispensers, readers) programming and troubleshooting; creation of automated workflows; screen execution and data analysis. Other responsibilities will include the curation, interpretation, and presentation of assay results at diverse internal and external venues; it is also expected that the successful candidate will maintain a strong grasp on the latest relevant scientific literature.

Basic Qualifications:

Master’s degree and 3 years of related experience

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ideal candidates should have a track record of developing and implementing microtiter plate-based assays (384 and/or 1536 well plates) to support early drug discovery research
  • Previous experience with various assay detection technologies encompassing both luminescence and fluorescence readouts.
  • Familiarity with various readers (e.g., FLIPR, EnVision, ViewLux, PHERAstar, etc…) and automated liquid handlers (e.g., Bravo, Echo, Tempest, BlueWasher, etc…)
  • Experience with high throughput screening-related data analysis software platforms (Genedata Screener, Tibco Spotfire, Pipeline Pilot, etc.)
  • Ideally, experience with cell culture, immunostaining, fluorescence microscopy, basic image analysis, multivariate analysis, imaging software and databases (Harmony, Columbus, CellProfiler, etc.)
  • Hands on experience running CellPainting, FISH and/or generic High Content assays
