The Department of Clinical Biomarkers & Diagnostics at Amgen in South San Francisco is seeking a highly motivated Scientist to perform clinical biomarker assays employing a variety of platforms to support our drug development efforts.
Will be an integral member of a dynamic group of scientists and platform experts. Will collaborate with scientists representing multiple therapeutic areas and work closely with groups in other functional areas. Will employ a wide variety of platforms including multiparametric flow cytometry in our biomarker laboratory to develop and qualify biomarker assays to support various clinical programs.
Specific responsibilities associated with the job include independent thinking, choosing the appropriate platform, planning and performing laboratory experiments, documenting experimental protocols and results, analyzing and interpreting data, presenting results to the stakeholders and working with internal and external partners.
Basic Qualifications:
Master’s degree and 3 years of Scientific experience
OR
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of Scientific experience
Preferred Qualifications
Doctorate degree or Doctorate degree by December 2019
Master’s degree with 3 years of experience in biomarker assay development and qualification.
A strong background in multiparametric flow cytometry assays including immunophenotyping and immune based functional assays is required for this position. The candidate is expected to be well versed in complex flow cytometry data analysis using FlowJo, FCS Express, SPADE, viSNE and CITRUS.
A strong skillset in handling various biological specimens, mammalian cell culture techniques, isolation and culture of primary immune cells.
Experience in performing immunohistochemistry and immunoassays using a variety of platforms (single analyte platforms such as ELISA and multi analyte platforms such as Luminex and MSD).
Demonstrated track record of critical independent thinking and troubleshooting.
Ability to multi-task and manage multiple studies, strong verbal and written communication skills and high degree of motivation, creativity and collaborative nature.
