Sr. Associate Scientist (cardiometabolic disorders, in vivo)

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will:

  • The Sr. Associate Scientist will be part of an interactive and fast paced research group exploring therapeutics for our Cardiometabolic Disorders Therapeutic Area.
  • The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual and an in vivo technical specialist responsible for leading and performing in vivo studies in mice and rats at our South San Francisco site.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Work in teams and partner with lead scientists to design, plan, prioritize, execute and interpret in vivo studies focused on identifying candidate molecules or exploring target biology.
  • Be responsible for all in-life portions of the in vivo study
  • Perform in vivo experiments with precision. Candidates must establish prior experience in vivo including dosing (po, ip, sc, iv), collecting baseline measures, randomization, sample collection and necropsy.
  • Show good scientific judgement at the experiment and project level
  • Being accountable for accurate, organized and timely record keeping
  • Effectively communicate results and study interpretation in project team meetings
  • Good record keeping and documenting skills to effectively generate study report

Basic Qualifications:

Master’s degree and 3 years of in vivo experience

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of in vivo experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry background with hands on in vivo experience
  • Experience leading CRO in vivo study activities
  • Must demonstrate a strong commitment to animal welfare and compliance. Thorough knowledge of the regulations for an invivo facility and remain aligned with IACUC regulations
  • Have the working knowledge in concepts including in vivo imaging, stable cell generation, RNA and DNA extraction and PCR techniques, performing ELISAs and other colorimetric assays
  • Ability to work independently and effectively within the timelines. Skill set to lead multiple projects and prioritize based upon needs is a plus
