The Department of Inflammation and Oncology in Amgen Research in South San Francisco (ASF) is seeking a highly motivated Senior Associate Scientist with experience in immunology to perform research studies aimed at developing novel immunotherapies. S/he will have prior experience in either viral, cancer or inflammation research with a strong interest in T cell biology.
Position Responsibilities
Be an integral member of a dynamic research team, collaborating with research scientists at multiple Amgen sites, and working closely with groups in other functional areas including Therapeutic Discovery and Medical Sciences
Make major scientific laboratory-based contributions to the research goals of the department, present their results in both internal and external forums, and participate in the writing of manuscripts for publication
Specific responsibilities include the formulation of experimental hypothesis, planning and performing laboratory experiments, analyzing data, and communicating results
Basic Qualifications
Master’s degree and 3 years of scientific experience
OR
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of scientific experience
Preferred Qualifications
Doctorate degree or Doctorate degree completed by June 2020
PhD with post-graduate training in immunology
Expertise in one or more of the following areas:
Knowledge and experience in working with in vivo models will also be useful
Demonstrated track record of independent critical thinking and scientific achievement in research, exemplified by a strong publication record and/or significant contributions to a therapeutic development program
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Knowledgeable, highly motivated, creative, and collaborative
