The Inflammation and Oncology Therapeutic Area at Amgen Research in South San Francisco (ASF) is seeking a highly motivated Senior Associate Scientist to perform research in the discovery, validation, and development of novel therapies in the fields of cancer immunotherapy, T cell modulation in the tumor microenvironment, and inflammation.
In this role you will be an integral member of the research team, collaborate with research scientists and work closely with teams in other functional areas including Therapeutic Discovery, Medical Sciences, and Computational Biology.
Position Responsibilities
Make impactful scientific laboratory-based contributions to the research goals and milestones of the Inflammation and Oncology Therapeutic Area, present results in both internal and external forums, and participate in the writing of manuscripts for publication
Independently design experimental strategy, plan and perform laboratory experiments, analyze and interpret data, and communicate results in team meetings
Basic Qualifications
Master’s degree and 3 years of scientific experience
OR
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of scientific experience
Preferred Qualifications
Doctorate degree or Doctorate degree completed by February 2020
PhD with expertise in immunology
Experience in cancer immunology or inflammation research with a strong interest in T cell biology
Expertise in one or more of the following areas:
1. Molecular biology: cloning, CRISPR/gene editing, retroviral/lentiviral engineering of primary human and mouse lymphocytes
2. Establishing functional assays using primary immune cells: multi-color flow cytometry, qRT-PCR, MSD, nano-string, cytotoxic assays, high-content screening, 3D cultures
3. Phenotypic analyses of tumor microenvironment from primary human or mouse tumor samples by methods such as multiplexed imaging, flow cytometry, NGS
4. Bioinformatics analysis of large gene expression datasets
5. Knowledge and experience in working with in vivo models of cancer and/or T cell immunity
