Amgen Inflammation Research at South San Francisco is seeking a hardworking and highly motivated scientist with immunology experience to join a drug discovery team. The team’s current focus is on developing biology hypotheses and therapeutic rationale for inflammatory, autoimmune, and allergic diseases including IBD, RA, SLE, and severe asthma.

As a hands-on, innovative scientist, you will play a highly impactful role in drug discovery and development. You will design experimental studies and execute them, and the data you generate from these studies will drive decisions and illuminate novel biology. You will have opportunities to be the first to demonstrate that a scientific hypothesis can translate into experimentally demonstrable effects and a drug that can benefit patients with unmet medical needs. Amgen is a highly collaborative environment with leading experts in various disciplines of biology and drug development.

Basic Qualifications

Master’s degree and 3+ years of industry experience in inflammation and/or cancer immunotherapy drug discovery and development

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of industry experience in inflammation and/or cancer immunotherapy drug discovery and development

Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate degree with research experience in immunology, cell biology, molecular biology, cancer biology, and/or biochemistry

Technical expertise in two or more of the following:

  • Multicolor(10+) flow cytometry and data analysis
  • In vitro cell assay development and optimization
  • Immune (T/B/NK/myeloid) cell biology
  • Mouse in vivo models (genetic and disease models)
  • Genomic or transcriptomic data analysis

Additional requirements:

  • Ability to think critically and contribute to understanding biology of target and mechanism of action
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate
  • Troubleshoot to solve problems
  • Organizational skills
