We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Associate Scientist to join the Inflammation and Oncology Research Therapeutic Area at Amgen South San Francisco (ASF) to drive the discovery research and validation of novel targets in inflammatory and autoimmune disease and cancer for the development of innovative medicines. S/he will be an integral member of a dynamic research team, collaborating with research scientists at multiple Amgen sites, and working closely with groups in other functional areas including Therapeutic Discovery, Medical Sciences and Computational Biology.
Position Responsibilities
Make major scientific laboratory-based contributions to the research goals and milestones of the Inflammation and Oncology therapeutic area
Plan and execute laboratory experiments, prepare and analyze biological samples, analyze data, present results in both internal and external forums, and participate in the writing of manuscripts for publication
Specific responsibilities include formulating hypothesis, designing and performing laboratory experiments, analyzing data, and communicating results
Basic Qualifications
Doctorate degree or Doctorate degree completed by December 2019
OR
Master’s degree and 3 years of scientific experience
OR
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of scientific experience
Preferred Qualifications
PhD degree with expertise in one or more of the following areas: Immunology, T cell biology, multi-color flow cytometry, isolation and culture of primary immune cells from human and mice, transduction of primary immune cells with retrovirus or lentivirus, biochemistry, molecular biology, in vivo animal models of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases and cancer, establishing complex cell-based assays, single cell analysis, and bioinformatics analysis
Demonstrated track record of scientific research achievement, creativity, and independent critical thinking, as shown by a strong publication record and/ or significant contributions to a therapeutic development program
Strong communication and collaboration skills
