The Immuno-Oncology Therapeutic Area at Amgen - South San Francisco (ASF) is seeking a highly motivated Senior Associate Scientist, who will be an integral member of our discovery research team, collaborating with scientists in multiple functional areas at Amgen, and contribute to Amgen’s drug development pipeline and to peer-reviewed publications.
Position Responsibilities
Design, plan, and execute laboratory-based experiments to enable the discovery, validation, and mechanistic understanding of novel immunotherapies for the treatment of cancer or auto-immune diseases
Analyze, communicate and document results in a timely manner
Stay up to date with relevant literature
Incorporate recent advances in relevant fields into experimental design and execution
Basic Qualifications
Master’s degree and 3 years of scientific experience
OR
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of scientific experience
Preferred Qualifications
Doctorate degree or Doctorate degree completed by March 2020
Degree(s) in immunology, molecular biology, cell biology
PhD with 3+ years of recent academic or industry experience with in vitro assay development or a Master’s with 5+ years postgraduate experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a biopharmaceutical setting to develop in vitro immune cell-based assays
Strengths in one or more of these technical areas:
A track record of productivity, through external presentations, publications, patents, and/or significant contribution to drug development programs
Able to understand, integrate, and synthesize information from complex data sets, to approach questions with quantitative and probabilistic thinking, and to effectively prioritize, plan, and execute next steps based on experimental results
Strong organizational, interpersonal/teamwork and communication skills, both verbal and written
