Global Strategic Sourcing

This role will give the successful applicant the opportunity to work closely with lots of different business functions and spend categories in one of the leading Bio Tech companies in the world. They will understand how large multi-national companies work and how to work within a corporate environment.

Amgen is searching for a Sourcing Senior Associate who will be responsible for helping execute the sourcing processes across a variety of indirect categories as part of the Global Strategic Sourcing (GSS) department.

JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Sourcing Associate will be responsible for effectively sourcing various indirect category projects in the various business countries, in accordance with established Procurement policies and guidelines. Working closely with and prioritizing activity with the Country Sourcing Manager and business leads in the Affiliate, implementing sourcing execution strategies and contracting needs. The Senior Associate will report to the Sourcing Team Lead and will work out of the Amgen Capability Center located in Lisbon Portugal

Context and Responsibilities


Delivering Value for Customers:
Understand business requirements and interpret customer objectives to source effective suppliers and solutions

Identify and record value opportunities through negotiation or competitive bidding (RFX)  scenarios
Partner with local Country Sourcing Manager (CSM) & business colleagues across the affiliate/s to understand demand a critical projects or statements of work for negotiation
 

Executing sourcing strategies below a certain threshold:

Own and deliver sourcing strategies and productivity initiatives to meet business requirements of business partners purchasing services across Commercial & General indirect categories of spend

  • Manage Request for Proposal and Quotation processes (eRFX) to deliver productivity and value back to the business – ensuring quality and compliance at all times
  • Consistently document and guide sourcing execution and productivity delivery in designated tools
  • Ensure sourcing tactics drive value in specific functional business environments
  • Develop supplier analysis and market intelligence to support sourcing strategies
  • Drive the negotiation of proposals and statements of work

Managing contracts:

  • Ensure Amgen’s procurement policies are followed, ensuring that compliance metrics are met or exceeded, supported through supplier contracts and statements of work:
    • Inform stakeholders on Amgen’s sourcing policies and procedures, providing support and corrective actions where required
    • Approval of purchase requisitions and escalation of any non-compliant requisitions to the appropriate GCM/RCM/CSM
    • Partnering with the business customers and legal on ongoing contract management (Managing new, existing & expiring contracts)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree and +2 years sourcing experience
  • Has solid understanding of sourcing processes (tendering, supplier negotiations and contracting), across multiple indirect spend categories.
  • Competent in Project Management and independently develops practical solutions.
  • Ability to help shape customer’s overall strategy while understanding business goals.
  • Excellent communication skills (presentation, virtual team development, etc) resulting in relationship building and development
  • Problem solving skills
  • Able to work with minimal direction, ensuring quality of tasks / service provided by self and other
  • Experience using e-procurement tools such as Scout & Ariba
  • Applies analytical skills to evaluate and interpret information using different sources in order to draw and present analytic insights
  • Highly proficient with MS Office Suite, including Excel
  • Fluent business English written and oral (Dutch, Nordic or any other EU language would be an advantage)
