Job Description
Eaton’s Bussmann division is currently seeking a Senior Buyer to join our team. This position is based at our Juarez facility. The Senior Buyer is responsible for procurement of the required raw material goods necessary to support the manufacturing operations ensuring all purchasing orders are planned in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner in line with customer required dates and proper inventory levels for raw materials. They will identify, select suppliers and negotiate prices for their assigned commodities and all related suppliers. This role also acts as a leader to Junior Buyers and Buyer Assistants. In this role, you will: Create and drive a strategy for their assigned commodities and suppliers. Drive cost out projects, localization projects, and other SCM projects as related to their supply base. Request quotations, selects suppliers, negotiates, awards purchase orders and issues change orders as required according to established Material Policies and Procedures guide and standard work. Expedite purchase orders. Notify purchasing and planning departments of the expected delivery dates and follows up on back orders and supplier performance. Resolve quality, invoicing, specifications, and shipment problems with vendors on a fair and equitable basis in a timely manner. Prepare and maintain files, documents, purchase requisition, quotations, orders, and vendor documents, as required for timely use and reference. Compile special reports as requested form available records, or from other areas if necessary. Suggest and implement improvements to departmental procedures for ordering, expediting, follow-up as approved by the Purchasing Manager. Conduct all business at the highest level of integrity and ethics. Comply with proper business practices as defined by Corporate Code of Conduct guidelines. Under the general direction of the senior buyer assist various company functions with the purchases of goods and services required for the operation of the business. Vendor selection and purchase order placement will be determined by a qualified cost competitive vendor selection process. Comply with Eaton’s Environmental, Health, and Safety requirements. Comply with Eaton’s Quality System requirements. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor degree in Business Administration or a related field. Minimum of 4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Minimum of 4 years of experience dealing with local and foreign suppliers in a contractual format. Minimum of 2 years working with SAP Bilingual English / Spanish Working knowledge of MRP systems, just in time concepts and respective production processes Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills. Strong negotiating skills; profit and action biased. Experience in scheduling agreements / contracts. Possesses a high energy level with a sense of urgency. Ability to work well with others at all levels of the organizations is essential Preferred Qualifications: Experience negotiating, developing, and managing request for quotations and subsequent contracts.
