Job Description
Eaton’s Industrial Sector, Vehicle Group, eMobility division is currently seeking a Sr. Commodity Buyer to join our team. The Sr. Commodity Buyer is responsible for the success of a new product launched to market is greatly determined by the Sr. Commodity Buyer’s effectiveness: Implementing the right supply solutions is the foundation for meeting the customer’s quality and delivery expectations while ensuring Eaton’s financial success. This pivotal role requires an individual capable of working effectively with local cross-functional-teams, Global Commodity Management and Eaton’s supply base. The Sr. Commodity Buyer further identifies and executes on Continuous Improvement projects to address any risk to supply continuity, reduce material costs, improve cash flow, reduce lead times and consolidate the supply base. The Sr. Commodity Buyer further monitors supplier performance and champions supplier development activities. Some activities related with the position will be: Implement/Execute on Eaton specific policies and procedures (Sourcing, supplier qualification, supplier monitoring etc) and act as trainer and mentor for implementation and ongoing adherence at eMobility Americas locations. Completes negotiations with suppliers regarding price, terms, quality, tooling, etc. Develop and negotiate supply agreements when needed. Negotiate consignment and/or JIT programs set up with supply base to assist with inventory days on hand. Participates in development of commodity strategy for assigned commodities. Develops productive relationships with others in Supply Chain Management, in particular Eaton Category Management Develop and execute on action plans to eliminate or minimize risk from supply base (financial, supply continuity, quality, IP etc). Make sure that supplier awarded business meets Eaton’s objectives in the areas of cost, Quality, OTD, service, inventory and payment terms (cash flow). Calculate total cost of acquisition and prepare cost comparison spreadsheets, taking inventory carrying, shipping costs, foreign exchange rates, duties, etc. into account. Make versus buy calculations. Sensitivity analysis for variable raw material costs, foreign exchange rates and any other cost factors that may impact the overall financial success of a program significantly. Develops project sub-schedules for supplier selection and qualification, tool development and PPAP (for die castings, injection moldings etc). Negotiates and implements consignment agreements (Eaton or supplier site) and safety stocks with top spend items on BOMs. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Industrial Engineering degree or related fields required. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution 3-5 years of experience in similar positions Preferred Qualifications: Experience with cost reduction: independently identify opportunities and champion execution Exhibits sound technical understanding, engineering background an asset Able to develop timelines related to supplier sourcing/qualification, tool development and PPAP Negotiates effectively with suppliers Understanding of PPAP process Eaton Marketing Statement We make what matters work.
