Job Overview


Mechatronics combines mechanical engineering, controls engineering, software design, electronic hardware, sensors and electrical harnesses.  A challenging assignment when you are responsible for safely starting, running and stopping a truck from the batteries to the starter motor to the engine and transmission, to the instrumentation and safety systems such as radar based collision mitigation and wireless telematics with GPS, and finally safely stopping the vehicle with Antilock Braking System.
 
The Driver Information Systems team provides the interface for the operator to obtain information about the performance and status of the vehicle through analog gauges and digital displays.
 
Responsibilities
- Lead functional and implementation specifications for classic analog gauge clusters and full digital displays


- Lead cross-functional teams to robust technical designs


- Lead driver interface design to ensure vehicle statuses are clearly and intuitively communicated to the driver


- Drive innovation by leading Best-in-Class designs for Instrument Clusters and Driver Displays through intuitive design and HMI


- Manage vehicle warning databases


- Mentor and train newer & less experienced team members


- Take on stretch assignments to further personal and team growth


- Estimate 5% of international/domestic travel

Required Qualifications
- Bachelors in Engineering in Electrical, Computer Science or Mechanical or related fields with 6 years of related experience OR Masters degree with 4 years related experience required


- An attached resume is required


- Excellent verbal and written communication


- Experience with vehicle CAN databus communication


- Experience writing and maintaining technical specification documents


- Motivated, self-starter, proactive

Preferred Qualifications
- Systematic problem solving


- Previous experience in HMI and UI.
