Job Description

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Senior Director Medical Affairs Physician M.D. – Global Oncology, are to: 

 

  • Participate in scientific review of investigator-initiated studies and be answerable medically for the clinical studies under their direction as well as directing the design, conduct, analysis and reporting of Phase IV clinical trials;
  • Provide strategic review of Oncology IIR and post-marketing studies;
  • Ensure all regional studies are consistent with global medical strategy;
  • Provide support and medical expertise to cross-functional teams within the Oncology SBU regarding development of educational materials, monitoring of published literature, addressing and resolving global issues related to products under their responsibility and provide input to company documents to ensure scientific accuracy;
  • Provide medical expertise and insight on commercial issues through membership of the Oncology Brand launch Teams (BLTs) or Global Brand Teams (GBTS);
  • Provide medical review of promotional material from the GBT for global use, e.g., product monographs, brochures, press releases, Q&As and field communications;
  • Interface with both internal and external experts (thought leaders, advisors, consultants) and medical organizations in order to develop and maintain strategic external alliances;
  • Plan and conduct scientific advisory boards with key opinion leaders and external customers;
  • Represent SBU viewpoint on products to thought leaders, scientific advisors, health authorities and other external stakeholders;
  • Provide Medical Affairs input to Global Development programs;
  • Provide medical probability of success and feasibility assessments to Strategic Marketing colleagues in relation to Bayer products;
  • Lead Medical Affairs activities connected with scientific publication process, global Thought Leader development programs and global medical congresses;
  • Provide Medical Affairs input to core labeling and pharmacovigilance documents for pipeline agents or marketed products (e.g., risk management plans and benefit analysis for benefit-risk assessments.);
  • Establish and lead Medical Affairs matrix teams for global brands in Oncology;
  • Contribute directly to the generation and disclosure of scientific and clinical data on pipeline and marketed products to appropriate healthcare stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Medical Doctor with advanced post-graduate medical training experience;
  • At least five years of clinical development and/or a Medical Affairs function experience of a global healthcare organization or disease or therapeutic area knowledge in both existing drugs and new fields of exploration;
  • Proven ability to identify and resolve complex problems;
  • A solid understanding of clinical study design, data analysis and interpretation as well as the principles of observational studies and health economics;
  • Understanding of drug development process over different stages;
  • An understanding of global regulations and guidelines;
  • Experience in effectively managing risk and compliance issues;
  • Ability to collaborate with a variety of teams and personnel across cultures and geographies as well as a proven ability to interact effectively with key opinion leaders;
  • Highly developed ethics and integrity, with demonstrated ethical medical decision-making skills;
  • Proven ability to implement successful clinical strategies and programs
  • Effective communicator with a high degree of fluency in written and oral English;
  • Experience in developing and delivering presentations and publications in English;
  • A strong global and strategic mindset.
