Job Description

The Customer Channels Group is a several billion dollar global business which markets and sells a vast portfolio of laboratory and safety-related products and services to its key customer base around the world that includes Healthcare, Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Academic, Industrial, and Government organizations. As a provider of a broad portfolio of scientific products and services, it transacts with and represents the product lines of thousands of industry-leading suppliers/manufacturers in the laboratory, production environment, and clean-room space.

The Sr. Director Strategy Deployment and Execution will be part of a global team designed to facilitate development and implementation of new capabilities aligned to the long-term strategy of the Customer Channels Group. This position will lead several Strategy Deployment & Execution team members driving strategic initiatives across the Channel. This role will partner heavily with senior functional, regional, global, and group leaders. The Sr. Director Strategy Deployment and Execution will leverage Strategy Deployment/Hoshin planning, program and project management expertise, and tools/knowledge of the PPI Business System to support, execute, or lead strategic priorities and related efforts.

Successful execution will require partnership and the ability to drive engagement and results across the global organization. Focus will be on developing transformational thinking and delivering strategic sustainable results to enable profitable growth, intensify the customer experience, and increase employee engagement to deliver sustainable results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively support develop and facilitate group and division level STRAP in alignment with company goals.
  • Align STRAP priorities through facilitation of Strategy Deployment X-Matrix Working Sessions (cascading within CCG) at the appropriate levels using strategy deployment, Parent A3s, Project A3s, and TTI Bowlers. This includes facilitating X-Matrix development for the CCG L1, and all cascaded X-Matrices (L2s, L3s, and potentially L4s)
  • Drive business results consistent with the AOP
  • Develop Strategy Deployment (SD) capabilities throughout the organization, ensuring leadership drives accountability and alignment of priorities (i.e. Leading CCG SBR’s, gemba walk and coach lower level SBR’s, utilizing visual management and TTI to drive execution of plan)
  • Develop strong Strategy Deployment coaching skills within the team (to enable the organization to execute their plans) – become experts at facilitating X-Matrices and SBR’s, A3 development and execution, TTI Bowlers, and RCCM
  • Provide global PPI Business System Program support through Strategy Deployment process governance, SD project traceability, and TTI’s to measure impact. Utilize consistent tools and templates and other governance mechanisms as needed.
  • Work globally and cross-functionally to drive alignment on strategic execution -partnering with IT and Finance to ensure the roadmap supports strategic execution and savings are robust and clearly defined.
  • Improve program/project management capabilities both within the function and outside into the organization. Execute large, complex, and cross functional initiatives to drive business transformation and process change.
  • Lead/work with functional teams to streamline processes to improve the customer experience, enable profitable growth, and increase efficiency.
  • Develop and qualify PPI Process Managers/Sr. PPI PMs where required.
  • Work with the expanded team to develop/promote/standardize the PPI Business System further.
  • Mature KPI Leadership by supporting senior leaders on KPI Bowler development, as well as RCCM usage and actions as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Fifteen (15+) years of experience as a continuous improvement ‘expert’ with a ‘hands-on’ track record of implementing successful Strategy Deployment and Business System based tools, systems, methodologies including:
    • Strategic planning and strategy deployment
    • Program and/or Project Management expertise
    • KPI Leadership and Lean Leadership (Daily Accountability, Visual Management, Leader Standard Work, and Gemba Walks)
    • Proven success in implementing continuous improvement tools and methodologies (i.e. PPI Business System, Lean Six Sigma, Agile, Business Transformation, Process Re-engineering, or another proven improvement methodology)
  • Broad knowledge and experience of multi-functional, multi-site, global organizational processes and financial business methods
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Operations or relevant business related field
  • Proven senior leader that removes roadblocks and drives results
  • Proven track record for developing, training, and coaching teams at all levels
  • Effective communicator and facilitator including solid written, oral and presentation-giving skills
  • Proven expertise through certification in one or more relevant areas (i.e. PPI Business System PM, LSS GB/BB, CPSM, CPIM, CSCP, CLTD, PMP, Prince2)

Successful candidate may be located outside Pittsburgh but expect up to 50% domestic and international travel as needed. This position has been approved for Relocation Assistance to the Pittsburgh, PA site which would reduce travel to up to approx. 25%.
