Eaton’s Power Components Division (CPD) is currently seeking a Senior Electrical Test Technician to join our team. This position is based at our Belmont, NC facility. Relocation assistance will be provided. Position Overview: The primary purpose of this position is to conduct mechanical and electrical testing to meet the demands of Eaton’s engineering departments to achieve product development, sustainment, and certification goals. Additional requirements will be to maintain the lab test equipment, prepare and process test reports, manage lab workload, track test request status, implement and maintain 5S activities, write lab reports, and participate in the strategic planning of lab and equipment upgrades. Performs functions as necessary to support all product development and maintenance activities including assembly. In this function you will: Conduct various electrical tests in accordance with UL, CSA, IEC and NEMA standards for electrical distribution products, as required, to meet the product development and sustaining testing demands. Learn and develop knowledge around applicable IEC, UL, and NEMA test standards. Need to Intuitively see and understand how electro-mechanical test set ups work. Must be good with tools and powered equipment with proficiency around thinking on the fly with unfamiliar items that need to be taken apart and put back together. Objectively evaluate test results after testing to clearly communicate conclusions to the project engineer either verbally or in a formal test report. Document test methods used to perform setup of specialized electrical components and / or assemblies for test. Contribute to maintaining equipment for repairs, calibration and support capital equipment upgrades for the test labs. Contribute to organizing and maintaining lab 5S along with helping drive EHS activities to improve and maintain overall lab safety that align to federal, local, OSHA and Eaton Safety Policies. Complete all EHS Environment, Health, and Safety training assigned. Complete additional special assignments or tasks requested by manager. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Associate degree from an accredited institution, Electrician Certification or prior Military Experience Minimum of 3 years of electrical testing experience or in lieu of experience Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution Experience with designing using Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) software Knowledge or experience working with high voltage, medium voltage, and low voltage sources of utility power. Position Criteria: Proficient in Microsoft Office for test documentation and analysis purposes. Knowledge around programming automated instrument control and data acquisition systems. Solid working knowledge of IEC, UL, CSA, and NEMA standards that relate to low voltage distribution equipment. Electronic, mechanical, electro-mechanical, and software aptitude needed. Ability to support work on high voltage, medium voltage and low voltage sources of utility power in inclement weather. Ability to work at heights above 6 feet wearing harness protection.
