Eaton’s Commercial Residential & Distribution Solutions (CRDS) Division- is currently seeking a Senior Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Arden, NC facility. Relocation assistance will be provided. Hybrid: 3 days in office/2 days at home Position Overview: The Senior Electronics/Embedded Development Engineer will be responsible for the development of electronic hardware for smart, connected ATS controller devices, supporting all project phases from requirements definition thru to sustaining phases. This includes embedded software/firmware for high performance, real-time protection, control, and energy management systems for Automatic Transfer Switch systems in commercial applications. The incumbent needs to work closely with global teams, third parties, Software Architects, Hardware and Mechanical teams to drive integrated product development and testing of ATS products/ solutions. In this function you will: Lead development, design and testing of smart products & gateways using programming languages such as Assembly, C & C++, JAVA on embedded systems running on Linux/RTOS platforms. Strong understanding of Linux Kernel, RTOS, ARM and Embedded Software Architecture Should have hands on experience on hardware/software architecture design, EMI/EMC-understanding, 16/32-bit micro-controllers/DSP/PLD based designs, analog and digital hardware design, low power designs. Participates in build management, change management, and configuration management tools such as JIRA/bamboo/TFS/VS/GIT/Stash/Clear Case/Clear Quest/DOORS etc. Sound knowledge & demonstrated experience of full product development (including Hardware, Firmware, Software) life cycle including requirements management, design, development, verification & validation, qualification & certification testing. Physical (Memory, processor utilization) optimization experience in resource constrained systems Develops an understanding of both technology and product concepts and is able to articulate product and software design. Ensures quality of delivery in accordance with the plan adhering to the standard practices used in agile/waterfall model Leads and participates in project-wide reviews of requirements, system architecture, and detailed design documents; interacts with Management, Architects, and other Leads Communicates technical concepts and information to internal staff/peers and stakeholders; strong verbal, documentation, and interpersonal communication skills required. Identifies opportunities for process, tools, and technology improvements, and drives those from concept to implementation. Estimate workload, establish and maintain project schedules and monitor progress through the project execution phases. Active communication with the cross functional team to ensure schedule, cost and performance alignment Contribute to team’s technical growth by engaging in technical discussion and mentoring Oversee system testing and validation working with testing and validation team Participate in product certification activities - UL/CSA/FCC and other regulatory compliance bodies When we embrace the different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds that make each of us unique, we — as individuals and as a company — are stronger. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution Two (2) years of experience working on engineering or manufacturing teams, with exposure to program management tools and processes. Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future. Relocation Assistance will be provided for candidates that reside outside a 50-mile radius of Arden, NC. Preferred qualifications: Five (5) years of experience in manufacturing, program management and leadership of project teams. Working towards Project Management Institute (PMI) accreditation (PMP) Knowledge of the product design Entry level knowledge of Program and Project Management methodologies, processes and tools.
