Lenovo is expanding its Cloud DevOps team and looking to hire Sr. Engineering
Manager. DevOps is responsible for customizing and maintaining cloud resources
which serve as the platform upon which our internal applications and solutions
are hosted/communicate.
Cloud DevOps support the entire organization and are responsible for assisting
several teams – platform and solutions respectively. In this role, you’ll be
managing engineering teams responsible for continuous integration and
deployment pipeline, cloud infrastructure for the platform and services,
uptime SLAs, automation of security tool (left shift), and strategic hiring.
You’ll be supported by respective engineering leads, project managers, and
scrum masters – Lenovo FTEs and consultants. As Engineering Manager you will
empower our teams to continuously improve their processes and culture, and
cultivate the happiness and development of our engineers.
Role
•Operate & maintain high availability of software for multiple products
running in AWS, Azure, Ali Cloud
•Establish a stable, reliable secure and high performing cloud platform
•Troubleshooting complex incidents in stage and production environments
•Collaborate with business and engineering stakeholders to support the design
and development of Cloud and Software team’s Cloud Infrastructure roadmap
•Establish, implement and analyze infrastructure-wide SLOs, KPIs and metrics
•Co-develop infrastructure and engineering standards, documentation, processes
and procedures with cloud and backend engineers
•Infuse site reliability and security into all areas of Lenovo cloud
infrastructure; understand modern software security and secure software
systems with cloud-based infrastructure
•Ensure your team consistently makes and meets commitments to deliver value by
actively removing roadblocks for your team and supporting dependent teams
•Motivate and focus your team to deliver the most important work; facilitate
collaboration with other application/solution teams and other parts of the
business
•Work with team members on career development by understanding their goals and
helping them find stretch opportunities
•Work with leadership to ensure that the team is appropriately staffed and has
the correct scope
#### Position Requirements:
\--- Basic Qualifications ---
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field.
• 10+ years of cloud infrastructure, building & supporting cloud native
applications, DevOps , site reliability engineering or IT engineering
experience
• 5+ years of hands-on technical leadership and people management experience
• Experience building cloud infrastructure to include network, security,
container, and Identity and access management mechanisms and structures.
• Proficient technical knowledge of current tools and best practices at scale
• Demonstrable experience leading global DevOps team, manage offshore squads &
3rd party vendor teams
• Monitoring and Logging of cloud Services and infrastructure, infrastructure-
as-code and Configuration Management
• Demonstrating fluency in at least two development languages such as Java,
C#, Perl, PHP or Python
• Managing Azure, AWS, AliCloud or distributed VMware environments;
demonstrating knowledge of one container technology such as Docker
• Knowledge of design and implementation with code management tooling such as
GitHub / GitLab as well as CI/CD pipeline tooling Jenkins, Jenkins X, Bamboo
and deployments;
• Possessing experience with Linux and Windows administration
• Demonstrable experience in configuration management across a multi-platform
estate such as Terraform, Ansible, Puppet or Salt.
• Experience with Level 1 troubleshooting for a range of areas including Cloud
Infrastructure (i.e. - AWS, Azure), LAN/WAN networking, Unix/SAN, security,
• Experience working with front-line technical operations teams (e.g., NOC)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
\--- Preferred Qualification ---
• Experience in design and creation of controlled chaos in production systems;
• Prior experience in working with cross functional teams to identify and fix
issues that affect systems reliability and performance;
• Demonstrable leadership, influencing and communication skills, as well as
the ability to drive continuous performance improvements with the
stakeholders, vendors and technology subject matter specialists;
• Establishing a stable, reliable secure and high performing cloud platform;
• Designing, building, maintaining and controlling stage and production
Infrastructure As Code (IaC) pipelines;
• Establishing proactive monitoring and alerting capabilities exist for all
components of the platform;
• Establishing system health and capacity is reviewed and enhanced as needed;
• Documenting SOPs, and performing knowledge transfer to others;
