Job Description

Guardant is expanding its mission to improve non-invasive cancer detection to partner sites across the globe via our Guardant Health in a Box initiative. The Sr. Field Applications Scientist (Sr. FAS) will be responsible for deploying Guardant360 and other automated assays.

The Sr. FAS will be lead and provide first-tier support to partner labs based in China and Japan. As the automation and assay specialist the candidate will provide deployment and post launch technical support on deployed Guardant’s diagnostic assays. The candidate will also provide presales support to BD team using Guardant Health’s digital sequencing technology. The is a remote work position when not traveling.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform Performance Qualification (PQ), Process Verification and Validation on new customer installations.
  • Perform troubleshooting and/or root cause analysis of potential issues with  Guardant Health’s cfDNA automated workflow(s) and maintain ownership through resolution.
  • Triage system issues and work with 3rd party vendors as required.
  • Provide end-to-end training for Guardant Health’s sample preparation workflow(s).
  • Support the planning discussions with new laboratories about the requirements for installing Guardant Health’s sample preparation workflow
  • Develop training and troubleshooting material for support workflow(s).
  • Work with quality assurance to ensure all documentation is accurately completed per regulatory requirements.
  • Travel to lab sites in China and other GH partner sites when needed.

Qualifications

The candidate should be experienced with liquid-handlers (e.g., Hamilton, Agilent) Next-generation sequencing and other ancillary equipment.

  • 3+ years of applicable experience in a diagnostics lab (industry or academic)
  • BS degree in engineering or science, with 5-8 years of related experience. MS with 4+ years of related work experience or a Ph.D. with 3+ years of related work experience. Preferred degrees; Molecular Biology, Genetics or Biochemistry, Bioengineering or, Chemical Engineering
  • Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems with minimal direction and make decisions with confidence
  • Ability to successfully balance and prioritize multiple ongoing projects/tasks
