The team’s charter is to build out end to end Microsoft Cloud Infrastructure while driving down unit cost of capacity, ensuring cloud services achieve both profit and gross margin growth. As a crucial member of the team you’ll also support long term bets and drive competitive intelligence to keep Microsoft Cloud ahead of competition. All while enhancing transparency into Cloud Infrastructure investments, safeguarding shareholder interest.

Microsoft cloud infrastructure finance is a fast-evolving team within Microsoft finance at the forefront of Microsoft’s mobile first, cloud first strategy. Our charter is to:

  • Support the growth of Microsoft Cloud businesses by driving down unit cost of capacity and ensuring cloud services achieve both profit and gross margin targets
  • Support long-term investments to achieve a leading position in Cloud services
  • Enhance transparency into cloud infrastructure investment

Responsibilities

 

Our team provides financial oversight to inform Microsoft’s global portfolio decisions (SKU, system integrator etc.); enable end to end cloud infrastructure planning and strategy; ensure supply chain operations are at optimal levels to name a few things!  Want to be part of this awesome, new team…then make sure to hit apply!

In this role you will work closely with leaders in engineering, supply planning and supply chain execution to understand, define and manage optimal inventory levels & manage logistics at all nodes of server supply chain. This is a rare finance opportunity to gain broad visibility into the operational and business aspects of Microsoft’s cloud business and contribute towards its success.

 

This role is a great opportunity to:

  • Ensure adequate inventory of materials and products in accordance with inventory cycles, Server demand and budget
  • Develop and implement inventory control procedures. Conduct inventory analysis to answer inventory problems and present solutions and recommended operational policies to senior managers
  • Partner with the business to identify cost saving opportunities/ buy and hold strategic purchases: build financial model to support decision, receive approval and implement the strategic buy
  • Build process to ensure proper financial management of aging and excess stocks and provide awareness to the liabilities in the different stages of the server/component
  • Own financial deliverables associated with month-end close, forecasting, annual planning and financial reviews with business partners

Qualifications

 

Our team values the following set of skills, which this role will help you enhance:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, math, computer science or engineering. MBA or equivalent in work experience to an MBA program and/or CPA preferred
  • 5+ years of financial planning & analysis, reporting and/or controllership experience with progressive advancement within discipline
  • Strong financial modeling and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Self-starter with strong business acumen and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities
  • Excellent communication, cross group collaboration and interpersonal skills
  • Strong, proven program management, process change and process management skills
  • Demonstrated experience in working with large amount of data, transforming it into insights
  • Experience in supply chain and/or inventory management, preferred.  Cloud infrastructure related industry a plus.
