Job Description

Job Summary and Mission

The SCU(Starbucks China University) Senior Manager, Partner Engagement and Empowerment role for Starbucks China is responsible for working closely with the Dean of SCU to accelerate the SCU transformation to go beyond learning and development but to drive initiatives that aim to elevate partners experience and empower them to benefit from the full suite of opportunities that Starbucks China offer. The role will involve heavily in the formulation, implementation and ongoing fine-tuning of initiatives/programs that strengthen partners’ engagement, unlock partners’ potential and support their development and success within and beyond Starbucks China. The role will work closely with senior leadership teams to set the agenda for partners’ engagement, identify opportunities to motivate and foster ownership, and develop programs to realize the opportunity and sharing successes with Partners within Starbucks.

More specifically, the person in the role will help drive the implementation and ongoing refinement of a few key initiatives, for example:

  • Starbucks culture reinforcement
  • University and industry association cooperation
  • “Star incubator”
  • External cooperation and SCU brand-building
  • Talent fast-tracking program
  • Coffee career

In addition, he or she will also

  • Actively participate in the development of PRO strategic plan to ensure alignment of partner engagement strategy and continuous growth ambitions of Starbucks China
  • Identify opportunities for enhancing partner engagement and empowerment, and developing program to multiply impacts to partners, Starbucks China and the community
  • Design initiative details that are guided by Starbucks mission, powered by vigorous process (including mechanisms and boundary conditions) that are aligned with operations directives, Starbucks culture and established goals
  • Develop implementation details and work cross-functionally to drive actual implementation to accelerate and realize impacts of programs
  • Continuously measure impact of programs, fine-tune execution details and share successes to maximize return on investment and external impact
  • Promote Starbucks value, culture, coffee. Model and act in accordance with Starbucks guiding mission and guiding principles

Summary of Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

Leadership

  • Facilitate discussion among senior leadership team to reach decisions on partner engagement and empowerment related topics and drive to successful implementation and vigorous ongoing program management
  • Collaborate with a team of professionals cross-functionally; model detail-orientation and thoughtfulness in program design, project and program management, and stakeholder engagement
  • Lead the detailed design and implementation of partner engagement and empowerment programs to enable Starbucks to reach its ambition in China and maximize impacts
  • Set goals, lead and inspire the working group in reaching their personal potential and model how partners at Starbucks work together

Business Planning and Execution

  • Build processes, mechanisms and assessment tools to systematically identify and assess partner engagement and empowerment programs
  • Plan, coordinate and implement programs/initiatives, monitor progress and track results and impacts. Follow up and communicate benefits and impacts of programs/intiaitives
  • Develops annual operating plan and budget for running the partners engagement and empowerment programs, and quarterly forecast updates. Identify optimization opportunities on an on-going basisServes as master facilitator on strategic projects and related global programs

Ideal Experience

  • An experienced project manager and owner with a minimum of 8 years’ experience designing and implementing innovative programs within a leading and fast-paced organization
  • A proven record of working as a business partner with executive leadership and line managers in the design and implementation of efficient and effective organization engagement programs Demonstrated success at crafting people engagement strategy and gaining alignment across business units; effectively using internal and external resources to implement programs in a fast growing environment
  • Fluent in oral and written Mandarin and English
