Job Description
Eaton is currently seeking a Senior Indirect Buyer to join our team. This position is based at our Kearney, NE Automotive manufacutirng facility. Relocation assistance will be provided. Position Overview: This position will apply purchasing practices to assigned commodity management and possesses knowledge to ensure products meet quality, delivery, and specification requirements at the lowest possible costs. Identifies new suppliers, negotiates price & contracts, analyzes trends, and expedites orders within functional area of responsibilities In this function you will: Build, maintain and manage strong supplier relationships and keep up good communications Purchase goods, materials, components or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets Support the purchasing function and other relevant departments and communicate any supply problems which may impact business Act as an interface between suppliers and other relevant departments on purchasing processes and new projects and activities Monitor and advise on any issues which present risk or opportunity to the organization (work with integrated suppliers) Provide analysis and costs, new and existing and review cost reduction activities Work closely with others in the procurement function and review opportunities for continuous improvement Negotiate contracts, improve prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilizing negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods Prepare and raise purchase orders Ensure that professional and consistent approach is taken in relation to all supplier relationships Ensure compliance to company guidelines, purchasing policies and procedures and OJEU guidance during supplier negotiations and contracts award process. Conduct research for new MRO suppliers Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery or invoice issues Manage indirect integrated suppliers Negotiate with vendors to obtain the maximum value in terms of price, quality, and service Qualifications Basic Requirements: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution Minimum of three (3) years’ experience performing purchasing functions Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Excel Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Business or Supply Chain from an accredited institution. Oracle experience preferred. Experience in Data mining Minimum of four (4) years’ experience performing purchasing functions in a manufacturing environment Active CPIM, CPM, and/or APICS certifications Position Criteria: Good communications and customer care skills when interacting with both internal and external customers. Knowledge of supply chain and purchasing reporting requirements and systems Sound knowledge of quality assurance and reporting accuracy. Knowledge and applications skills of process improvement Basic knowledge of transportation and logistics responsibilities Knowledge of lean principles, ERP, and Business Intelligence reports Sound knowledge of commodity management including vendor selection, purchasing, performance metrics, and continuous process improvement.
