Job Description
PRIMARY FUNCTION: This position has responsibility for both hands-on purchasing functions as well as supervising a small group of buyers. Both the purchasing coordinator and the buyers reporting to him/her will support a single business in Tijuana. The position drives continuous improvement in supply chain while utilizing the framework of the Eaton Business System (EBS) and the Continuous Improvement Framework (CIF). ESSENTIAL FUNTIONS: Implement purchasing policies and practices established by the Purchasing Manager that minimize the total cost of acquisition of materials & goods that support the plant’s manufacturing needs. Implement advanced replenishment processes for the assigned products, such as Supplier Schedules, Min/max, Consigned Inventory or VMI, bidding and cost avoidance initiatives. Ensure that purchase orders are placed consistent with supplier lead times. Reviews purchasing parameters in order execution systems (such as MFGPro) to ensure proper supplier demand generation. Coordinates with supply Chain, Manufacturing and Customer Service groups to maintain plant-wide purchasing information. Develop and train subordinates to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures. Develop and train subordinates with appropriate growth experiences to challenge them and to determine their capabilities and interests. Monitor & report on appropriate procurement metrics. Implement corrective actions where metrics are not meeting expectations. Manage and drive cost savings projects consistent with plant savings objectives including MRO spend control. #LI-MG1 Qualifications SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE: 3 to 5 years of experience Bachelor’s degree Good communication skills Proven capability to execute purchasing of mfg components in a high mix, low volume environment including solid experience on MRO procurement process. Knowledge of materials planning systems (MRP/ERP) requirements and order generation process logic Basic understanding of Supply Chain Management operational concepts surrounding production planning, inventory control, purchasing, logistics, stockroom operations, and shipping/receiving Strong understanding of manufacturing processes as well as special processes. Ability to analyze, identify and implement opportunities and corporate initiatives for improvement Ability to lead and coordinate multi discipline, multi-functional teams. Lead implementation teams to deliver the purchasing strategies Basic Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Process Variation Reduction (Six Sigma) concepts and tool sets as they relate to materials management Knowledge of industry specific quality registration schemes (i.e. ISO9001, ISO/TS-16949, AS9100, etc.) Strong purchasing/project management skills Strong PC application skills, including complement of Microsoft Office Software. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Must be able to interface effectively with the Transitions teams in order to set up Purchasing processes and appropriate bridge inventory, goods and capital equipment. Must be able to interface effectively and fairly with both business leaders, planners and manufacturing Ability to communicate in English and Spanish is required.
