Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Scope
- As part of the Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP) process, the Sr Manager is responsible for delivery of the demand plan to the manufacturing and procurements teams across all value streams and ensuring supply is available to meet demand requirements within the planning horizon.
- The role is also responsible for deploying new process changes, templates, work on projects with other functions to account for organizational changes, etc.
- Directly manage team of production planners.
- Indirectly (dotted-line) manage the Purchasing team consisting of buyers, buyer/planners, and/or commodity leaders which handle the daily orders, expediting and internal customer service related to incoming materials.
- Represent the Supply Chain function on the Site Leadership senior staff, including performance reporting, budget management, strategy contribution, decision-making and communications.
- The Sr Manager is a key participant in the consensus plan development process. They are empowered to make decisions on behalf of the planning group and share responsibility with other relevant parties to edit and approve the consensus plan.
- Exercise judgement within the policies and practices that were defined. Determine appropriate actions by independently referencing operating policies and procedures and using proven approaches.
- Develop and govern the process through which production schedules are developed and managed within the value streams, including prioritization logic, constraint management, process controls and flex/buffer strategies while achieving company revenue goals, customer service goals, inventory and lean productivity goals.
- Manage working capital (Inventory) levels to achieve or surpass financial goals (site & business unit).
- Continuously strive to achieve balance across key goals and priorities of service level, inventory and operational efficiencies within a quarterly planning horizon.
- Complete routine rough-cut capacity planning across all value streams based on 18-24 months of demand, utilization rates, productivity assumptions and any strategic programs or events.
- Responsible for setting operational objectives and successful implementation, maintenance and execution of planning processes and initiatives across regions, business units and product families.
- Achieve success through regular coaching, developing and the ability to motivate the team.
- Facilitate monthly demand and supply planning meeting and ensure gaps between demand and supply are clearly understood and communicated, and appropriate actions are in place to resolve.
- Influence and collaborate with key partners in marketing, demand planning and finance, and address input gaps as identified by forecast error, volatility and other means.
- Understand and highlight capacity constraints and work collaboratively with Manufacturing on resolution across resources and constraints.
- Make recommendations for necessary capacity expansions and support business case development and analysis.
- Assist in development of annual plans and reconcile them with monetized demand plans. Communicate any gaps between the plans.
- Develop and track key output and performance KPIs as required.
- Support relevant supply chain projects around enhancing customer experience & improving delivery.
- Develop and execute inventory management strategies that support revenue growth, minimize risk of E&O for both finished goods and raw materials, while balancing inventory turns and availability goals.
- Participate in problem solving activities and drive back-order reduction efforts.
- Provide input and recommendation in improving supply chain strategies, policies and practices to achieve Best-in-Class Supply Chain Management practices.
- Manages the annual Performance Management and Development (PMD) and Human Resource Review (HRR) processes to maintain a robust staff that evolves into future leaders and is resilient to unexpected events.
Minimum Requirements:
(Master of Orchestration)
- Broad knowledge and relationships across different parts of the organization: commercial, sales, marketing, product development, finance, engineering and manufacturing.
- Deep knowledge in planning processes: demand planning, supply planning, new products introduction, material planning and SIOP process
- Ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required and always having the customers’ interest in mind at all time.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or other business management discipline or related field.
- Proficiency in SAP, JDE, or another major ERP system.
- Ability to use technology tools and translate data into high-level analysis and demand planning to facilitate collaboration with external stakeholders.
- Strong fluency in English language, both oral and written skills.
- A strong balance of analytical skills and action orientation, combined with practical business acumen to drive sustaining results with intensity, at times demonstrating the confidence, conviction and collaboration to innovate new strategies and methodologies
- Ability to work independently, typically initiating own tasks with input/guidance from manager.
- Ability to thrive in a matrix and cross-functional team environment.
- Self-starter with ability to work independently under pressure and react quickly to changing priorities

- Ability to define, lead and implement benchmark Supply Chain processes (stocking strategy, stocking parameters, Kanban, Sales Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP).)

- 7-10 years of relevant leadership experience in a manufacturing supply chain.
- Demonstrated ability in building relationships across various functional teams.
- Demonstrated ability in managing multiple tasks within tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability in working well in a global organization within Operations and with external clients.

Preferred Qualifications and Requirements
- High-level understanding of international distribution and procurement requirements, including packaging labeling, export documentation, duties, regulatory approvals
- Broad knowledge of Profit and Loss (P&L), Balance Sheet, Net Present Value (NPV)/Return on Investment (ROI).
- Experience in GMP, regulated environment, preferred (Pharma, Med Device, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience and success using Lean business practices, preferably in materials management.
