Job Description
The Director role leads the Supply Chain & Commodity team in the execution of strategic sourcing and supply chain strategies. This role will develop the sourcing standards and operational plans to address the overall supply chain issues, including risk mitigation, cost, lead time, material availability, liability exposure, and contractual obligation. This role oversees contract manufacturer management, supplier selections, and contract negotiations. Essential Functions: Manages the Supply Chain and Commodity Management Staff. Sets Goals, Creates and Implements Plans. Reports on status to Management. Develops a Commodity Strategy and Supplier Technology Roadmap that aligns Product Development Technology, Product Cost, and Availability Requirements in alignment with Siemens' Business Plan. Manages Product Cost Reduction Strategies and Roadmap. Negotiates key commodity supplier costs and lead times. Continually identifies and implements new opportunities for cost savings and avoidance. Works closely with Development Engineering to influence decisions related to Commodity and Supply Chain Strategies that align with product design technical requirements and business objectives. Works closely with the Operations Team (Materials and Production Management, New Product Introduction, Quality Management, Operations Engineering – Quality, Test, and Manufacturing) to create and implement sourcing plans. Develops supply chain strategies, including contract negotiation, risk evaluation, and mitigation. Drives lead time management strategies to ensure material availability in the shortest time possible. Interfaces with cross-functional teams to assess current and future materials requirements. Works with Contract Manufacturers to minimize material liabilities by managing and tracking supplier performance. Implements programs for supplier evaluation, selection, qualification, and supply base optimization. Manages overall supplier relationships, including supplier performance, capability development, cost, and quality improvements. Advises management on alternate global supply sources, commodity pricing trends, and supply/demand situations that could impact the business. Monitor current commodity market conditions to identify challenges and develop supply continuity plans.Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Engineering from an accredited institution. Minimum of 10+ years of Strategic Commodity and Supply Chain experience in the electronics industry. Strong background in outsourced contract manufacturing. Experience partnering closely with and advising senior leadership and executives. Working Conditions/Physical Requirements: Normal office environment. Travel may be required. The salary range for this position is $136,700 to $246,100, and this role is eligible to earn incentive compensation. Siemens offers a variety of health and wellness benefits to employees.
