PRIMARY FUNCTION: This position provides Manufacturing Engineering support to the production facility and acts as a liaison between the transitions management team, design engineering, and production. Additionally, and on the same responsibility level, the person in this role will participate in manufacturing product development and cost out, configuration management, BOM’s, and MFG-Pro structuring updates. Execute the organizational strategic plan consistent with established industry standards, government regulations and customer requirements. Essential Responsibilities: Write production routings for new routes and manufacturing improvements, establishing labor time standards for each operation. Periodically review actual labors and update routings to conform or improve technique to reduce labor. Update active routings including procedures, times (labor), documents included, such as process documents, standard work, and tooling design, make and update. Develop and maintain robust, cost-efficient manufacturing processes, quality process, and product structures consistent with corporate accepted Lean manufacturing practices. Perform root cause and failure analysis as required. Implement methods and practices to reduce variation. Demonstrate ability to understand source(s) of variation and identify impact of tolerance stacks in assemblies. Participate in concurrent engineering efforts and critical design reviews to minimize product development costs and maximize useful life of products. Apply Design for Manufacturing and Value Engineering practices as applicable. Coordinate and facilitate the needs of Manufacturing Support Group, i.e., welding, machine shop. Act as technical liaison for products from inception through shipment to customer. Manage multiple projects and deliver to schedules on time. Introduction of awareness to proper personnel of unsafe practices or environments. #LI-DS1 Qualifications Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution required. Minimum 5 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment. No relocation is being offered. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States or Mexico without company sponsorship. This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee. Preferred Qualifications: Bilingual English-Spanish Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution. Experience with Lean/Six Sigma methodologies. Develop manufacturing processes ensuring they meet Environmental, Safety, and health (MESH) requirements. Prepare product routings and Control Plans. Dictate discrepant material disposition and rework procedures. Prepare cost estimates. Authorize O.I. and E.C. changes. Investigate and recommend machine tools. Specify tooling and gaging. Structure and maintain department forms, records and procedures. Direct product routing maintenance. Provide technical assistance to shop personnel. Model the Eaton ethical conduct policy, the Eaton Values and Philosophy, and comply with all other corporate, plant, and regulatory policies and regulations as applicable. Drive continuous improvement and support Plant Goals: Safety, Quality, Lean, OTD, and Financial expectations as a key member of VSM team. Position Criteria: Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques. Understanding of problem solving methodologies to determine root cause and corrective action - i.e. Thought maps, 8D, root cause analysis, Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis, etc. Understanding of engineering design and product reliability concepts. Knowledge of industry and customer specific quality processes (i.e., ISO9001, AS9100 etc.). Knowledge of product and end user application/specifications, including product testing requirements. (Design/process interface). Ability to develop and make special tooling, hydraulics, test stands encompassing all disciplines, communications, purchasing and pricing methods.
